Problems getting 911 response?

This past week a 911 Supervisor filed a SPECIAL ATTENTION for the address that is problematic.

With a SPECIAL ATTENTION CPD will have to do more.

Never talk to the front line operator. Always speak to a Supervisor. Ask what additional things they can do when 911 OEMC calls are not responded to by CPD.

You can foia the special attentions. Then throw them to the IG. Perhaps the Ig will get better results than we residents who do not get 911 responses that are meaningful.

Just got good news! 11th District will carry 21-208 forms. This means residents can request cars fill out a service request for US.

Go ahead, gert a wish list and order away!

Need pot hole fixed? Need tree trimmed? Flag down a Beat car and ask them to fill out this form.

In the event they DO NOT have the form on them post here. They will be disobeying the CAPS Chief Directive and we need to let him know so he can do something about it!

Post here date, time, patrol car no who SUCCESSFULLY ordered and those WHO REFUSED.

Both need to get the right kind of credit.

This is GOOD FOR US. The COMMUNITY CONCERNS AND CITY SERVICE DIRECTIVE is finally getting implemented. It is a decade old and never used for our benefit.

Your new civic duty is to ORDER AWAY and let the Superintendent and Caps Chief know when the Patrol cars disobeyed their order. To be on the safe side, have the form on hand and tell them to fill out.

You now have a little power. USE it!!

20/20 hindsight on Sammy Sosa's June slugfest for Cubs in 1998

Former Detroit Tigers star Rudy York held the record for homers in one month with 18 in August 1937. So it was fitting that Sosa hit his 18th and 19th homers in June 1998 at old Tiger Stadium.

20/20 hindsight on Sammy Sosa's June slugfest for Cubs in 1998
Like most former major-league pitchers, Ryan Dempster remembers his first start. "Wrigley Field," Dempster said without hesitation. "I struck out Brant Brown on three pitches to start the game. Then I walked Mickey Morandini, and Sammy Sosa hit his first of 20 home runs that June." Dempster had it exactly right.

Sleeping in public is taboo - unless you're young, white and privileged
When Yale graduate student Lolade Siyonbola dozed off in a common room of her dormitory during a late-night paper-writing session, she had no idea what her nap would lead to. Another student, perhaps assuming that Siyonbola was an intruder or disturbed at the sight of a black person sleeping in plain view (or both), turned on the lights and told her: "You're not supposed to be sleeping here.
