Problems getting 911 response?

This past week a 911 Supervisor filed a SPECIAL ATTENTION for the address that is problematic.

With a SPECIAL ATTENTION CPD will have to do more.

Never talk to the front line operator. Always speak to a Supervisor. Ask what additional things they can do when 911 OEMC calls are not responded to by CPD.

You can foia the special attentions. Then throw them to the IG. Perhaps the Ig will get better results than we residents who do not get 911 responses that are meaningful.

Just got good news! 11th District will carry 21-208 forms. This means residents can request cars fill out a service request for US.

Go ahead, gert a wish list and order away!

Need pot hole fixed? Need tree trimmed? Flag down a Beat car and ask them to fill out this form.

In the event they DO NOT have the form on them post here. They will be disobeying the CAPS Chief Directive and we need to let him know so he can do something about it!

Post here date, time, patrol car no who SUCCESSFULLY ordered and those WHO REFUSED.

Both need to get the right kind of credit.

This is GOOD FOR US. The COMMUNITY CONCERNS AND CITY SERVICE DIRECTIVE is finally getting implemented. It is a decade old and never used for our benefit.

Your new civic duty is to ORDER AWAY and let the Superintendent and Caps Chief know when the Patrol cars disobeyed their order. To be on the safe side, have the form on hand and tell them to fill out.

You now have a little power. USE it!!

Zither maestro Laraaji continues exploring musical paths no one else can see

Sun 7/1, 7 PM, Thalia Hall, 1807 S. Allport, $15, all-ages

Zither maestro Laraaji continues exploring musical paths no one else can see
Born Edward Larry Gordon in 1943, composer, zither maestro, and experimental musician Laraaji has spent his life making music that captures humanity's pulse and then some. He's walked a colorful path while connecting threads between Sun Ra's experimentation and Alice Coltrane Turiyasangitananda's devotional music with new age mysticism and critically championing ambient music and performative public art.

  • Perez Elementary School reviewed by a parent

My daughter was accepted to this school for 1st grade for the 2019 school year. She has a pretty intense IEP and this will be her first year in a mainstream classroom. The principal, Ms. Johnson has already met with me twice- once to answer my questions and show me around the school, and another time she called a meeting with the whole special education team (speech therapist, counselor, psychologist, nurse, social worker) so they could learn more about my daughter and how to prepare for her big transition. I ve met several of the staff, and they ve all been kind, and remembered me upon subsequent meetings. They are going above and beyond to make us feel welcome. I was also impressed that Ms. Johnson walks around the school and calls the kids by their names, and she knows details about them. I have another daughter at Skinner West, which is a great school- but the class sizes are too big, and it s easy to get lost in a crowd. My daughter s class at Perez will be 24 students! So glad I found this hidden gem!

Thank you Cristina for putting this out there it's been dangerous working conditions for the employees but Corporate said they can still work! Sad isn't it? they are in air conditioning in their office comfortable. Walked in for 15 minutes and said no reason to close store here are portable a/c units and seeing ceiling collapsed and said just block it and tell customers don't go that way, unbelievable!

Do you remember the little kid from Jerry Maguire, Ray Boyd? Yesterday I was paid a visit from one of my youngest constituents, 7 year-old Isaac Zapata, and he had his version of “the human head weighs 8 pounds” of information to share with me. Isaac, whose name is very fitting to the profession he wants to be when he grows up, a (nature) scientist, is a human, albeit tiny, encyclopedia of Monarch Butterfly knowledge. He had his mom reach out to my office so he could pitch me on his proposal to help preserve the monarch population in our own (Pilsen) backyard. This is necessary to help them complete their generational migration from Canada to Mexico. As it turns out, he nailed his scientific-based proposal, and our office is on board. Great job, Isaac, (and mom, Jessica Copilkiahuitl Zapata).
