As more and more development and investment continues to flood the South Loop area, I can't help but wonder if anyone will discuss Record Row -- the TRUE identity of what everyone seems to want to brand "Motor Row."
"Record Row" is the more relevant history for this area of Chicago. If the powers that be were smart, the strip along Michigan near McCormick's new 'Entertainment District' should really become a cultural corridor for Chicago, celebrating the historical Jazz and Blues contributions that line that entire strip. Nashville has Broadway Street ... New Orleans has Bourbon Street .... why on earth doesn't Chicago have something similar????
There's a great documentary on this strip if anyone is interested.

Women who voted for a man that loathes and uses women, loves crotch grabbing, is on his 3rd wife, who has physically abused his first wife, are blind to reality. There is a long list of negatives about this simple-minded man. They voted for him anyhow. I can see men voting for him, because they have the same views as he does. They are scared of equality. Republican women don't want equality. They are followers, and/or afraid to speak up. Again, I have a list of over 200 anti-female quotes spit out by misogynist Republican males. I'm not going to waste my time posting the rest of them. The few I posted gave you enough info. I will respect Republican women when they begin to respect themselves. I'm closing the book on this conversation.

Who knows what those items are that have been in McCormick Places parking lot for about 10 days? They are very colorful and some of them light up at night.

Each quarter the culinary students at Robert Morris University, 401 S. State Street, open a pop up restaurant with a different theme and menu. Students do everything from selecting the food choices, designing the menu, ordering supplies, cooking, serving and cleaning. This quarter, our theme is "The L Stop" with courses from different neighborhoods of Chicago. Our quarters last ten weeks, but we need the first couple weeks to set up and the last couple to evaluate and critique. Open only on Thursdays, reservations recommended. This is a fantastic experience for our culinary students!

Community Adult Day Care Center - STORY TELLING EVENT sold out - not a seat OPEN at MAYSLAKE Theater (seats 130) - we had people standing. Many thanks to all of our story tellers (12 in all), to Bruce Wolf - our EMCEE for the evening and to our sponsors and the volunteers that serve on the Board of Directors as well as our Executive Director, Susan Neustrom. All the silent auction items went so as fund raisers go - this was a good one for a very worthy 501c that serves seniors with dementia, Alzheimer's and nerve damage.

I feel once we are past the negative perceptions of the area and truly embrace the great history of Bronzeville we will be rewarded in ways that are innumerable, if and when the resources are put in the promotion of what happened here. As a people we have never excluded even as we were not included. What concerns me is that this should be on the front of the consideration of the tourism bureau's investment portfolio, lets consider this area as an asset and as something to present to the World for celebration. If you can have art festivals, rib festivals and so on in the North side neighborhoods, why not have these festivals in the Southside venues.
The History and the greatness of Bronzeville is what we have to preserve, if we let this area become anything other than an Historical area then we have lost a great treasure.
