Ex-cop wasn’t tested for alcohol in 2008 collision, year before he was drunk in crash that killed 2

Frugoli was pulled from the wreckage by a good Samaritan and limped away on a ramp, bleeding from the head as the vehicle he’d struck burst into flames. He was arrested by Chicago police officers near Clinton Street and Roosevelt after a tow truck driver spotted him and cut off his path.

Much of his testimony focused on two crashes that occurred 24 hours apart in January 2008. In the first, Frugoli lost control of his unmarked Crown Victoria while on duty and struck a concrete barrier at 47th and Wells streets.

Ex-Chicago cop denies on stand that he drank before two crashes, one of them fatal
Former Chicago homicide detective Joseph Frugoli admits he was an alcoholic, regularly consuming more than 20 drinks in a night despite asking for a transfer to a later shift to try to limit his time at bars.
