Neighbors helped two children out of a house in the 7800 block of South Kilpatrick Avenue after fire started in a truck parked outside.

Shortly after 3 a.m., another fire started in a 2.5-story building in the 2100 block of North Merrimac Avenue in the Northwest Side’s Galewood neighborhood.

    Ivan Ramierz and Sully Torres woke up early Saturday morning to a popping noise outside their top-floor window. Ramirez looked outside and saw the brightness of fire near the house next door on Kilpatrick Avenue. He bolted out of bed and outside, where he saw flames leaping about 3 feet high from the hood of his neighbor's pickup truck, he said.
