Cops, firefighters to hit the ice in benefit for 100 Club

The game takes place at 7 p.m. at Morgan Park Sports Center, 11505 S. Western, with a portion of proceeds going to the 100 Club.

    Hockey teams from the Chicago Fire Department and Chicago Police Department will face off Friday in a game to benefit the 100 Club of Chicago. The nonprofit provides financial assistance for families of first responders in Cook and Lake counties who die in the line of duty.

  • St Cajetan Elementary School reviewed by a parent

    The school has changed drastically in the last two years under the new administration. The teachers and the staff are top notch. I wouldn't send my children anywhere else.

Nearly 20 carjackings reported in one week in Chicago

Earlier on the Far South Side, a 52-year-old woman was pulling out of a driveway in a 2016 Kia Sorrento around 6:40 p.m. Sunday in the 2300 block of West 115th Street in the Morgan Park neighborhood, police said.

In the most recent carjacking, a 20-year-old man was sitting in a 2014 Buick Verano with a female in the 2400 block of North Maplewood Avenue in Logan Square around 12:35 a.m. Monday when two gunmen forced them from the car, police said. 

In the following days, an 88-year-old man was carjacked by two men on Wednesday in the 1000 block of West 61st Street when he as returning from the gym, police said. One of the suspects was killed while speeding away. 

    Nearly 20 carjackings reported in one week in Chicago
