CTA reveals route, four new stations for Far South Side Red Line extension

An open house to present details of the alignment plan to local residents has been set for Feb. 13 at 6 p.m. at the Gwendolyn Brooks College Preparatory Academy gymnasium at 250 E. 111th Street.

This article has 1 other Chicago location (Show)

In addition to 5.3 miles of new track, the extension calls for the creation of four new stations at 103rd Street, 111th Street, Michigan Avenue near 115th Street, and—of course—a 130th Street terminal in the Far South Side community of Riverdale.

CTA reveals route, new stations for South Side Red Line extension
The planned extension of the Chicago Transit Authority's Red Line from 95th Street south to 130th Street took a big step forward Friday as officials announced the proposed path for the long-overdue transit improvement project. Departing from the soon-to-be-revamped 95th Street terminal, the "preferred alignment"-or route-would run along the west side of the Union Pacific Railroad line to about 109th Street.

BACKGROUND:
Chicago, IL | Founded in 2017, NursingInspired is a mentorship and educational program for ethnically underrepresented moreover African American youth high school students & young adults that seek to pursue a higher education & nursing career.

I am currently working with several young adults that are taking their prerequisites. The goal is to guide them with individualized preparatory "care plans" in their nursing school applications as well as group educational sessions.

In time, I seek to reach out to collaborate with various African American youth organizations and schools throughout the Southside of Chicago with educational programs, events and exposure to area nursing schools and organizations.

Thank you 👏🏽👏🏾👏🏿 to all those who donated and spread the word
about what I am seeking to execute with 💡NursingInspired👩🏾‍🏫.

While the funds raised 💸 have still been coming in,
I was not able to get the projector and screen in time.

However, I was able to borrow, both a
projector and projector screen from a close friend.
    💖Thank you, Erica Lamb!👼🏾

In the meantime, mentees present at the session received:
✔️folders with their agenda and program materials.
✔️treat bags including "Future Nurse" writing pens to take note of the many time-saving tips to help them apply to nursing school,
✔️organizational binders to help them keep track of their top nursing schools they are applying to, as well as prepare them for school visits and interviews.

Please continue to spread the word about this effort for
African American❣️️🖤💚 youth in Chicago and the field of Nursing.
