Pullman artist lofts target late spring groundbreaking

The initial construction timeline for the affordable live-work complex at the corner of 111th Street and Langley Avenue has slipped slightly due to a request from the U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development to redo a required Secton 106 historic review.

New construction permit at 11135 S. Langley Avenue [Chicago Cityscape]

Pullman artist lofts target late spring groundbreaking
Despite having a freshly issued building permit in hand, the developers behind a plan to bring 38 units of mixed-income housing for artists to Chicago's Pullman neighborhood won't be breaking ground on the project until late spring or early summer.

BACKGROUND:
Chicago, IL | Founded in 2017, NursingInspired is a mentorship and educational program for ethnically underrepresented moreover African American youth high school students & young adults that seek to pursue a higher education & nursing career.

I am currently working with several young adults that are taking their prerequisites. The goal is to guide them with individualized preparatory "care plans" in their nursing school applications as well as group educational sessions.

In time, I seek to reach out to collaborate with various African American youth organizations and schools throughout the Southside of Chicago with educational programs, events and exposure to area nursing schools and organizations.

The first installment of educational event(s),
this past Sunday, January 7th, 2018 was a success!

Thank you 👏🏽👏🏾👏🏿 to all those who donated and spread the word
about what I am seeking to execute with 💡NursingInspired👩🏾‍🏫.

While the funds raised 💸 have still been coming in,
I was not able to get the projector and screen in time.

However, I was able to borrow, both a
projector and projector screen from a close friend.
    💖Thank you, Erica Lamb!👼🏾

In the meantime, mentees present at the session received:
✔️folders with their agenda and program materials.
✔️treat bags including "Future Nurse" writing pens to take note of the many time-saving tips to help them apply to nursing school,
✔️organizational binders to help them keep track of their top nursing schools they are applying to, as well as prepare them for school visits and interviews.

Please continue to spread the word about this effort for
African American❣️️🖤💚 youth in Chicago and the field of Nursing.
