Billboard Replaced In Beverly After Complaints

Earlier this month, after Outfront Media removed a billboard for the cable TV show SMILF, 19th Ward Alderman Matt O’Shea chuckled after he said, “If somebody wants to rent a billboard at 10318 S. Western, please give them a call.”

The billboard on 103rd and Western now reads: “McAuley girls are Confident…Determined…Spiritual and Future Ready.”

It's Christmas in the Southland

A tree lighting ceremony hosted by the Beverly Area Planning Association and Morgan Park Beverly Hills Business Association will be at 4:30 p.m. Nov. 25 at King-Lockhart Memorial Park, 10609 S. Western Ave. in Chicago.

Police Warn Of Rash Of Robberies On South Side; ‘Our Community Is Scared’

The most recent incidents happened Saturday morning. Police said it started when someone stole a Chevy Equinox that was left running in a driveway the 400 block of West 100th Place, and then used it in at least four robberies in Beverly, Washington Heights, and Auburn Gresham.

Cops Search for Suspects in Morgan Park Crime Spree

According to a community alert issued by police, a person between the ages of 14 and 18 stole a vehicle in the 400 block of West 100th Place and proceeded to rob three different people and hijack another vehicle, committing all the crimes within a two-hour span.

The spree ended at 7:50 a.m. when another vehicle was hijacked in the 8800 block of South Eggleston, according to police.

Armed robberies reported in Chicago's Morgan Park, Brainerd neighborhoods

The spree began with the 6:30 a.m. theft of a Chevy Equinox SUV left running in the 400 block of West 100th Place that was later used in four robbery-related incidents, police said.

At 7:45 a.m. another robbery was reported in the nearby Brainerd community, in the 8900 block of Laflin, and a short while later a vehicular hijacking occurred in the 8800 block of Eggleston, according to Chicago police.

‘SMILF’ Billboard Taken Down In Beverly

The billboard on 103rd and Western in the Beverly neighborhood depicted a young mother from Boston holding a young child and, in big bold letters, the name of the show:  SMILF.  Underneath that were the words: single, smart, Southie.

The alderman said half-kiddingly “If somebody wants to rent a billboard and 10318 S. Western, please give them a call.”
