68-year-old woman hit by stray gunfire from two groups among 6 shot in Chicago

In another Far South Side shooting about 20 minutes later, a 28-year-old man was walking down the sidewalk around 1:45 a.m. in the 10500 block of South May Street in the Washington Heights neighborhood when two male shooters approached and fired at him, police said.

She was on the sidewalk in the 6200 block of South Ashland Avenue when a group of males fired shots after arguing with another group, police said.

Most recently, a 26-year-old man was shot in the abdomen and leg around 2:05 a.m. Tuesday while sitting in a parked vehicle in the 9100 block of South Aberdeen Street in the Brainerd neighborhood on the Far South Side.

The officer had stopped at a Family Dollar in the 7900 block of South Yates Boulevard in the South Chicago neighborhood on the South Side around 9:30 p.m. and was in a marked patrol vehicle when the teen approached, police said.

On the West Side, a 21-year-old man was shot in the foot around 8:45 p.m. while standing on the sidewalk in the 200 block of South Campbell Avenue in the Near West Side neighborhood, police said.

Around 8:30 p.m., a 22-year-old man was shot in the chest in the 7400 block of South Rockwell Street in the Southwest Side’s Marquette Park neighborhood in what police are investigating as an accidental discharge.
