For the past four years, Ald. Matt O'Shea (19th) has hosted a pancake breakfast to raise money to replace outdated bulletproof vests for police officers. The breakfast will be held from 8 a.m. to noon at the Catholic school at 10200 S. Washtenaw Ave. in Beverly.
The pancake house at 10437 S. Western Ave. donates all the supplies to the breakfast each year. In 2017, more than 7,500 pancakes were served, which equates to 45 gallons of batter. Nearly 10 gallons of syrup also was consumed. This article has 1 other Chicago location (Show)
Kean Gas Station at 2632 W. 111th St. in Morgan Park also is donating 5 cents for every gallon sold from Feb. 10 through Saturday to O'Shea's fundraiser. Four other sponsors have agreed to match the station's donation dollar for dollar, he said.
