On the Far South Side, a 43-year-old man was moving items inside a home in the 9900 block of South Peoria Street in the Washington Heights neighborhood when the homeowner’s gun went off and hit him in the leg around 11:40 p.m., police said.

In the homicide, a 30-year-old man was shot in the head around 9:10 p.m. Monday in the 800 block of South Albany Avenue in the West Side’s Lawndale neighborhood, police said.

Officers responding to a call for a person shot found the man lying on the sidewalk in the 100 block of North Long Avenue with gunshot wounds to the ankle, abdomen and shoulder, police said. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition.
