  • Last night a car crashed on the side of our house into a tree on 77th Street. Saw a plain clothes detective chasing someone down the street, then a massive amount of squad cars and street blockings and a helicopter for about an hour. Later all I heard down 77th Street were ambulances, sirens, the helicopter was hovering by then and the squad cars began to gradually disperse. Anybody know why all this occurred Saturday night?

  • Warm weather brings out the urban predators.

How Irish is Chicago? St. Patrick's Day Traditions Part of City's History

In 1979, Coakley and other kids from his neighborhood "walked along our block, 109th and Washtenaw" in the first South Side Irish Parade. The kids' parents hung flags and cheered them on, and the parade grew each year.
