The spree began with the 6:30 a.m. theft of a Chevy Equinox SUV left running in the 400 block of West 100th Place that was later used in four robbery-related incidents, police said.

The first occurred about 7:30 a.m. and involved a man jogging in the 2600 block of West 106th Place, according to Chicago police and 19th Ward Ald. Matt O'Shea. Five minutes later, an attempted armed robbery of a man in his driveway on the 10600 block of South Fairfield Avenue, O'Shea said.

At 7:45 a.m. another robbery was reported in the nearby Brainerd community, in the 8900 block of Laflin, and a short while later a vehicular hijacking occurred in the 8800 block of Eggleston, according to Chicago police.

    Chicago police have alerted Morgan Park residents to a string of robberies that occurred Saturday morning. The spree began with the 6:30 a.m. theft of a Chevy Equinox SUV left running in the 400 block of West 100th Place that was later used in four robbery-related incidents, police said.
