  • Phill Unfair suspension without reason. No rules broken

    How old is this tradition?

  • Orange is the new DEGENERATE

    Older than the Bard himself..

  • Jeffrey Littleton If you can't be a poet, be the poem.

They seriously cut back this year's schedule.

  • Perhaps readers are confusing it with the Chicago Park District free Shakespeare plays which are performed by Chicago Shakespeare Theater (Navy Pier). These plays in this article are performed by Midsommer Flight, another local not-for-profit troupe. The photo in the article is misleading as it is from a Chicago Shakespeare Theater (Navy Pier) event, not a Midsommer Flight event.

Midommer's website says they've done this for seven years.

  • Jeffrey Littleton If you can't be a poet, be the poem.

Thanks...I surely did mix it up.

  • The article/headline itself is confusing, probable writing by a new transplant, or someone not at all from Chicago.

What's confusing about the headline, Jim? I don't find anything confusing about the article either with the exception of the illustration used.

Bill, do you understand that the theater company mentioned in the original post is NOT Chicago Shakespeare Theater? The locations mentioned in the original post most likely are the only ones in which Midsommer Flight will be performing "Two Gentlemen of Verona."

  • Jeffrey Littleton If you can't be a poet, be the poem.

I noticed last year's the Chicago Shakespeare released the schedule mid-May. Good to know there are actually two productions out there to see.
I saw them more than once last year, made a field trip down to the new Steelworkers Park.
