  • It must be more difficult to rob banks in warmer climates. If you walked in like thatbin.Honolulu it would raise eyebrows. Here we all look like that.

    That's really the Andersonville way to rob a bank. Grab a coffee, rob a bank, maybe get a falafel while you wait for Uber. Surprised he didn't flash the note on his laptop. He's our kind of bank robber alright.

  • I hope that s.o.b. is caught, it's a shame Noone wants to work anymore they want to steal from everyone else, that's trying to make a decent living. The problem now a days is you don't see cops on the streets anymore like in the old days, so it's easier for all these crimes to occur. There's no law and order anymore.

  • So true, back when there was no crime. The Atlantic Ocean was something then. You should have seen the Atlantic Ocean in those days. Don't touch the suit. Yes, it used to be beautiful ...

    So neither Bonnie & Clyde nor Willie Sutton robbed banks back in the 1930s? Plus ça change....

    And I hate to break it to you, but cops walked a beat back then.

    Laptop? Jersey Joe, don't you know he was supposed to TEXT the note to the teller?

    This is how a proper bank robbery text should read:

    This is a stick-up. Your money or your life. To reply, text "A" for your money or "B" for your life,

    Actually, because it's Chase:

    Transfer alert: Your balance exceeds my balance, which is $20,000 below my required minimum. Remain silent, To reply, please text "A" or "B," followed by a space and the dollar amount.
    A=Your money
    B=Your life

    Edgewater criminals are persons of a "very different background and social training". They wouldn't consider robbing a bank without a wearing a fashion scarf, designer sunglasses and carrying a freshly brewed doubleshot mocha espresso from Starbucks. Don't forget that Edgewater is the play to live, to work and to play but only with a certain "Panache".

    Thanks to the realtor community (and businesses & residents seeking cachet), the boundaries of A'ville seem to have expanded all the way s. to Lawrence and n. to the "parkette" at Clark-Ashland. A'ville was never officially recognized as a separate neighborhood by the city--it and everything n. to Devon and w. to Clark is officially "Edgewater." Edgewater/Uptown border used to be Foster, but like A'ville's s. border, over the past decade or so, has become whatever businesses, residents & businesses claim it is. (I seem to remember when Edgewater was considered part of Uptown--that fell by the wayside >35 yrs, ago).

    5 yrs ago I did my post-knee-surgery rehab at ATI's "Andersonville" branch. It's at Clark and...wait for it...WILSON! (Go figure).

    Even more confusing, Uptown and most of Edgewater are in Lake View Township! (RP is its own township).

    I like the discussion style here. We start down one topic and end up with a completely different one. How about we agree that Andersonville is no more than a state of mind? And that this criminal selected a neighborhood with a poor clearance rate. Like the bank robber, Willy Sutton said: I could rob a bank in Andersonville with one hand because no one will catch me. That, and there are a lot of good coffee shops around.
