Is it 4 years later & election time already? Must be, it’s the only time Thompson starts to act like he’s doing good for the neighborhood. Why not concentrate on the crime in the area and demand police patrol in the neighborhood . Time for him to GO!!

  • emj1900 bp lifer

Sorry to disagree with you but, Thompson has done more for this area than any other past alderman. Sad reality is crime is happening all over this city and even Bridgeport is NOT immune. It is NOT time for a election actually. That happens next year 2019 when hopefully we all vote RAHM out.

  • JC, you have to admit, Thompson is still a *slight* improvement over Balcer.

    That guy was a clown.

  • I love the new Left turning arrow 👍

Besides cost, there is absolutely no reason why arrows are not installed at every intersection.

Don't be mad, BRO... but you're just not welcome here.

Another thing that the city has been doing something about (which I've had a major problem with since I started driving at 16 in 1972) WHO is the genius that decided to put all bus stops on the near corner of intersections, blocking all right turning vehicles??? Most have been moved to the far side where they SHOULD have been ever since there were electric streetcars on rails.

  • Hey oldster- Traffic engineers have a handle on the situation. Your "idea" not only prevents right turns from the perpendicular street, it also would result in increased accidents.

  • The SpinDr FGFM Eradication Team - Could our Work be Done?

Reading Rainbow fail on your part junior. Read again... near corner blocks right turns... where all bus stops were until recently. I advocated stops being placed ACROSS the intersection.

  • Spin, think about it

    Tad has a point

Tad knows what you are saying, so do i

  • The SpinDr FGFM Eradication Team - Could our Work be Done?

What point? He actually said exactly what I said. Put all bus stops on far side of intersection. They started moving them maybe 8 years ago, but there are still some that remain on the 'wrong' side.

  • Instead of waiting behind a bus to turn right, you might “turn into” (not literally) a stopped bus right where you are advocating moving them to

  • The SpinDr FGFM Eradication Team - Could our Work be Done?

Right turns from the perpendicular street would be unimpeded, you just turn normally into the middle of that street. The bus DOES stop along the curb.

  • say you are going westbound behind a bus

If the bus stops after the cross street and not before, you will be able to make your right turn

But the vehicle going southbound will not, and visibility into the turn will be a liile bit mire obscured

More than likely, the turning car would block the crosswalk

Check that before you two get excited, I meant traffic lane, I'm not telling you to cross the center line into oncoming traffic.

  • I suppose i understand what you are saying is turn right past the bus, but i guess im wondering where do you drive in the city that lets you be able to do that???

    What “middle lanes”! ? Lol

  • The SpinDr FGFM Eradication Team - Could our Work be Done?

Ever make a right turn when a large truck or van is parked on a corner, or hedges or trees obstructing your view? Proceed with caution... Would you sit there until it drives off or until somebody trims them? How long have you been driving?

  • The SpinDr FGFM Eradication Team - Could our Work be Done?

    ... it's not that difficult.

  • Relax chief. Just trying to have a constructive conversation, not an urban planning debate

I dont really care all that much

  • The SpinDr FGFM Eradication Team - Could our Work be Done?

Lol, read my message above addressing middle lane.
Ummm... drive east on 31st and turn right on Halsted when a bus is stopped there and light turns green for you. Easy peasy.

  • Funny i was imagining 35th and halsted when i was typing

  • The SpinDr FGFM Eradication Team - Could our Work be Done?

Where do you drive that the buses block the traffic lanes stopping you from turning?

  • The SpinDr FGFM Eradication Team - Could our Work be Done?

Main point, you should be able to turn right on GREEN after yielding to pedestrians BEFORE making it easier for the cars turning right on RED.

  • The SpinDr FGFM Eradication Team - Could our Work be Done?

Of course, street corners with no turn on red like 35th street can keep the bus stops on near corner. Isn't the bus stop for southbound Halsted still on the northwest corner?

  • Yep
