A well caffeinated and energized crowd at the Weston's Coffee & Tap Co. grand opening celebration, 4872 N Milwaukee Ave! Great to see friends and neighbors support ANOTHER NEW local business, including State Rep. Rob Martwick, the folks from Jefferson Park Forward, and the Jefferson Park Chamber of Commerce. Congratulations to Nick and crew, the place looks fantastic! #loveyourlocal #jeffersonpark #chicagocoffee

I'll check it out between transfers from bus to train and vice versa, that intersection needs a better coffee shop that isn't Dunkin Donuts.

I know I said I would be the first one there, but I got married over the weekend and JUST got back in town. The wife and I are going there today! Thanks for thinking of me Inactive Person!

  • Congrats on the nuptials!!

  • @Anthony harebrained, congratulations on your marriage.

  • I enjoy a cup of DD coffee, but the donuts, now that they no longer bake on premises, are horrible.

  • Almost all DD no longer bake on site, everything they "make" shows up frozen, and they defrost what they need. Yum. Even the disgusting egg-sandwich-type things they sell are frozen.

As for old grease, never heard that one. But the donuts taste old now, like a few days old, not just a few hours.

A 6 oz. Coffee at Sbux is the same price as a 16oz coff at DD. That is pretty much my order, so given the choice between the two I'll take Sbux....or this new place which is probably the same price within 20cents.

It's so nice that Inactive User is always thinking of me! I actually went yesterday morning! Grabbed an americano and a bag of Metropolis coffee. Super nice people (chatted with them for a bit) and the drink was fantastic. On par with Perkolator's americano! I didn't try the sandwiches or their selection of $5 local brews, but hopefully I'll get to those tomorrow. The place is super bright and clean, they play good music, and it was half full of people working on their laptops & taking advantage of the free wifi. Everyone should stop by and welcome them to the neighborhood.

  • @Anthony, thank you for finally going and giving us your review, seeing that you were so amped to go I was looking forward to hear what you thought of the new place, there were not a lot of comments on every block about the place and I figured if anyone had went and been able to comment it would be you.

I know you said you were planning on going on Monday with the wife, but i guess she had other plans and was unable to go... welcome to married life.

  • Anthony, thank you for saying the coffee was "fantastic". I'm tired of the FB comments about the coffee being "epic" (c'mon, really) or the sandwich they ate being "amazing". If you're 'amazed' by a sandwich, you're leading one boring-as$ life.

I went in there yesterday and had the Weston sub and a Lake Effect Espresso Gone Stout. Sandwich was delicious, reasonably sized. And beer, at $5 a glass is reasonably priced and delicious. Staff was super friendly and the decor was comfortable and laid back. I noticed a lot of people in using the WIFI and relaxing while I was there over lunch time.
