Infrastructure Update: Devon Sewer Project Good news for those on the Northwest side: the sewer work that required closing the eastbound lane of Devon Ave. near Central is done ahead of schedule. Happy commuting! On to the next phase of the project! TIMELINE: The next phase of the project is estimated to start the week of 4/23 and last approximately one month. TRAFFIC CONSIDERATIONS: During this phase, left-hand turn movements for North and South bound CENTRAL will be restricted, and there will be no through traffic across Devon by vehicles. Eastbound and westbound Devon will remain in the current 1 and 1 configuration that it is in now. Dig into the history of the project on our website.
A successful and well-attended fundraising event to support the positive transformation of the vacant lot at 4546 N. Kedvale was organized last week by the Mayfair Park Advisory Council. Special shout out to Nadine Karavidas and Marie's Pizza and Liquors Official Page who generously hosted the fundraiser. Additionally, the City Council last week approved $48,552 in expenditure of Open Space Impact Fees for the acquisition of 4546 N Kedvale at Alderman Laurino's request. 4/14: St. John's Lutheran's Annual Rummage Sale When: Saturday 4/14/18 Where: 4939 W. Montrose Ave., In the Gym Donations accepted 4/9-13/18 from 9am until 3pm. Early bird shopping from 8-9am on 4/14 for $5 per person. Get in early to see what treasures await. Entrance fee after 9am is $.50 or 1 canned food item donation (for the food pantry) per person. There will be a bag sale at 2 pm. Bags for bag sale are $8 a piece.

The City Clerk's office will be selling City Stickers at the 39th Ward Office (4404 W. Lawrence) on Thursday, June 14, from 10am until 2pm. This service is only for Chicago residents whose vehicle stickers expire in June. In order to qualify, 6/18 must be printed on your current sticker. IMPORTANT: The two week grace period no longer exists. If your current City Sticker says "6/18," you must purchase and display a new City Sticker no later than one minute after midnight on June 30. The City Clerk's office will NOT accept cash payments. They will only accept checks, money orders, and credit cards. WHAT TO BRING: 1. You MUST bring your driver's license or state ID, AND 2. 4/3: Green Initiative Conference Northeastern Illinois University (at Peterson and Central Park) is hosting a Green Initiative Conference, next Tuesday, April 3rd. Speakers will address environmentally-friendly retirement investments, urban forestry and agriculture, sustainable development, green careers and volunteering, and environmental justice issues in Chicago. The conference is FREE and open to the public. No registration required.

FUNDRAISER: The City Council passed an ordinance sponsored by Alderman Laurino to provide $42,000 for the Park. 3/29 PARTY: Join Mayfair Civic Association for fundraising party this Thursday, March 29, from 6-9 pm at Marie's Pizza (4127 W. Lawrence.) Tickets for the party at will be sold at the door for $25. This week Alderman Laurino had the great fortune of celebrating the grand opening of another great new dining option in Edgebrook: Ruk Sushi & Thai Edgebrook at 5419 W Devon. This is the third location for owner Paul, and we are happy to welcome him to the neighborhood. Infrastructure Update: Water Main Project - Kilbourn, Kostner & Leland Work on the water main project involving portions of Kilbourn, Kostner and Leland project is scheduled to end soon. Restoration is scheduled to begin this week and will take approximately 30 days to complete. Background: In mid-January 2018, Department of Water Management crews began the work to install 2,563 feet of new 8-inch water main in N Kilbourn Ave (W Lawrence Ave to W Montrose Ave), 658 feet of new 8-inch water main in N Kostner Ave (W Leland Ave to W Wilson Ave), and 995 feet of new 8-inch water main in W Leland Ave (N Kilbourn Ave to N Elston Ave.) The old water main dated back to 1896.
