Police closed off Lockwood Avenue east to about Laramie Avenue and Ohio Street east of Lockwood.

At least 2 wounded in shootings as Memorial Day weekend begins

About 5:55 p.m., a 20-year-old man was shot in the Noble Square neighborhood inthe 1100 block of North Milwaukee Avenue. He was shot in the arm, and taken in good condition to Stroger Hospital, police said.

Earlier Friday police said a 38-year-old man was shot in the back in the Chatham neighborhood about 2:45 p.m. in the 7800 block of South Evans Avenue. He was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center where his condition was stabilzed.

Chicago man charged for rash of carjackings, faces potential life in prison

According to Chicago police, the crime spree began when Moore shot and wounded his brother at their home on West Adams Street. Minutes later, he carjacked a red Jeep a few blocks away in the 5200 block of West Jackson Boulevard and sped off, according to police.
