'I Heard a Crack': Man Recalls Andersonville Porch Collapse
As the weather gets warmer, lots of people will be hanging out on porches--and one man recently injured in a porch collapse says he just wants to remind people to also think about safety. "I'm in a lot of pain," Ray Echevarria said. "It's hard to walk."
    https://www.nbcchicago.com

  • I've never even heard of a porch being made entirely out of concrete. That would be heavy and cost-prohibitive. What I have seen instead of an all wood porch is a steel-framed porch with wood floors supported by additional steel frame struts underneath the floors.

  • You are correct about that, because it is not widely used over here. But in the long run it turns out to be economically viable and less maintenance issues.
