A lovely -- but scared -- dog was found on our front porch this morning. We have taken the dog in but we currently have a dog who will not tolerate any other dogs. Please call 773-262-3754 (home), 847-525-5230 (cell) if you think this dog might be yours. We do not want to have to take the dog to a shelter and will have to try to find a new home soon if the dog is not claimed but it can't stay with us.

We got the name of the original owner of the rabies tag but, although his dog is missing, it is an entirely different dog. The tag has evidently been passed along with the collar and we now have no leads. We will also see if there is a microchip and pursue that lead but wanted to get news out through social media.

Did you see my post about missing animal?

  • J. SolutionSForever 7400N 50+ years following my dreams and titles

My mistake the missing animal I posted was a cat.
I hope the owners of both get the family animals back

  • Can you post a photo of the dog ?

  • If the tag came with contact info, I would reach out for starters, if you haven't done so already. Then post signs in the neighborhood where the dog was found.

However, I would recommend not posting your personal phone numbers on this site. I have noticed some very unfriendly souls here. Just a safety measure. Can't be too careful.

  • You can also post his photos and information about where you found him on lost dogs illinois. I think that their website is: but I'm not positive.

    Good luck!

  • White poodle like dog?

No, not a white poodle. His photo is posted on one of the Facebook group pages for Rogers Park. He's most black with some white on his face, mixed breed.

  • The owner has been found!!!! It is a long, complicated story but the main takeaway is that I learned that new owners of a pet need to REGISTER the microchip with their own information. The dog was adopted from Chicago Animal Care and Control but the chip's information was not then re-registered with the county. In other words, the last known owner was CACC. Thanks to a wonderful city employee, the chip number was able to be cross-checked with the adoption records and the owner has been found. Reunification is planned for Sunday:-).

  • That's good information to know.

Wonderful news, Helen, and good to see you and O. again at that meeting.
