Mom With Kids In Car Refuses To Give Vehicle To Carjacker

The woman says protecting her son and daughter was the only thing on her mind when a man, dressed in black, approached her from behind at the Lincoln Square gas station at Damen and Eastwood.

Mom With Kids In Car Refuses To Give Vehicle To Carjacker
(CBS) - A Chicago mother stood up to a would-be carjacker Thursday because her children were in her vehicle. The confrontation was caught on camera at a North Side gas station, CBS 2's Dana Kozlov reports.

She was indeed brave and nothing wrong with conceal and carry, it's allowed by law. This is also one of the reasons I don't pump gas unless my doors are locked and alarm is on. About 5 years ago I had a guy casually walk up and try my passenger side door while pumping gas. My alarm chirped, I didn't say a word, stopped getting gas, got in the car, drove off, called cops. He hustled away quickly when my car alarm went off. ALWAYS lock your car while pumping and watch what's going on around you. So glad she is alright.

  • I do that too; hide the handbag, lock the doors and activate the alarm while I pump gas. Only once (thankful...) in months was my vehicle obviously "checked out" and the guy left when I gave him a "look."

One of Lincoln Square's Best Patios Will Live Again
Lincoln Square now has details about what's going inside the former Bad Dog Tavern/ Mash, the space with one of the neighborhood's best patios at 4535 N. Lincoln Avenue. The replacement restaurant will be called Warbler and it's slated for a January opening. They'll serve American food with the ever-popular Asian influences.

Amazing that such a perfect spot has a problem making money.

    my 2 cents -

    - the patio to main restaurant traffic flow is poor - needs an architectural segue.
    - the inside dining area is like a cavern. Fine for the early Beatles - but not working for the LS dining scene. Lighten it up... and maybe some divisions of space that break up the tunnel effect.
    - good food, good beer and live music. (oh, and good whiskey)

  • JoeFlatwoods Love my Albany Park Neighborhood

Agreed Citizen, but I would add that I think there are a lot of good places that end up busy only to close down less than a year after opening. Far too many of these restaurant owners do not seem to realize that the average time it takes to START making a profit is three years, and that is again if the restaurant does well. If it is slow, you'd better get it straight and quick-great service, great food, and great marketing. Too many good places close due to undercapitalizing.

  • Citizen: Yesterday, I peeked in. Very modern. You can bet David and his group will work as hard as it takes to make this work. I for one can't wait.

Spiteful Brewing opens taproom Saturday after 5-year wait
Brewery ownership is a long game. What seems like a fun career and bringing joy to the masses quickly gives way to grueling 12-hour workdays, untenably low salaries and brewing beer in 400-square-foot basements.

Man Charged With Running Brothel Out Of Albany Park Apartment

On Thursday, an undercover officer visited the apartment in the 3900 block of West Lawrence and made an arrangement with Guerrero to have sex with one of the women there for money, according to the sheriff’s office.

Mute you don't know my relationships with those prostitutes, your just assuming I'm the general public.

As far as your sister it sounds like she was forced into prostitution by her life circumstances which does not make it a free will choice. If she had a home and a family and a job would she choose to suck d*@k for a living? I don't think so.

It sounds like you know everything there is to know about criminals and how to handle crime in the city - I mean who would ever think that pimps carry guns or use violence or dope, or that your sisters clients aren't involved in guns or dope. I think you watched Pretty Woman way too often. But you know better than everyone because your sister was a prostitute so I defer to you on all crime matters.

"As far as your sister it sounds like she was forced into prostitution by her life circumstances which does not make it a free will choice. "

Sometimes our life circumstances are due to bad choices. Thats all im saying.

"If she had a home and a family and a job would she choose to suck d*@k for a living?"

She had a home and a family and a job. She left them all. Some people arent cut out for or fond of rules and regulations and 9-5 life.

"It sounds like you know everything there is to know about criminals and how to handle crime in the city "

Na but i do know not every prostitute is not a victim of human trafficking and i could use your same justificatiins for claiming these prostitutes as victims to claim this man in the article is also a victim. Poor guy probably doesnt have a home family or job skills and might be a poor addict. Will we determine hes forced into a life of criminal activity by his life circumstances or is he just a criminal?

"who would ever think that pimps carry guns or use violence or dope,"

I guess the same people who think prostitutes dont

"I think you watched Pretty Woman way too often"

The one who didnt like me assuming about them is making assumptions about me now. Typical eb hypocrite. I saw it once. Very unrealistic.

"But you know better than everyone because your sister was a prostitute "

I just know as much as anyone else who knows a prostitute. Each one has a different story. The assumption that these women were victims of human trafficking is just as valid as an assumption that they werent. Both unconfirmed assumptions.
