I hope they protest the mayor and all the alderman who tie the cops hands to keep us safe...all the political correctness won't keep your CHILDREN safe..we are the murder capital in this country..thank your humble cough cough mayor for that and all his cronies..

"So basically only democrats care about kids..that's what you're saying..ok."

Nope, RPfl, not what I'm saying. your friend, good neighbor, pointed out the following:

"And while this event is not formally "hosted, organized or endorsed by any partisan political party" all of the sponsors and donors belong to one political party" I'm sure Republicans love their children, but maybe, just maybe you think children should be seen and not heard.........?

Moving to the neighborhood -- Community Groups?

Hi there,

Moving to Rogers Park next month from downtown. Do any specific community action groups come to mind, that a newcomer should join to start becoming involved?

No particular cause/topic in mind right now--just looking to become a contributing member of the community.

Thanks!!

  • Love Salernos! But, their pizza recipe is different from the one in Oak Park.

  • Jen

Love their pizza but I’m not gonna lie I hope they will have security there at night since they are opening a bar. Sometimes it’s gets a little crazy by the L stop.

The next round of participatory budgeting is ...

The next round of participatory budgeting is about to begin! This is when you and your neighbors decide how to spend over $1 million in improvements for the 49th Ward. Each year, I receive over $1 million from the City’s “Aldermanic Menu” program to spend at my discretion on infrastructure improvements in the ward. Nine years ago, I implemented a “participatory budgeting” process in which the residents of my ward decide directly through popular vote how those tax dollars are spent. Since then, scores of cities across the nation have emulated our process and just recently Participatory Budgeting became the subject of a PBS documentary. The process for determining how to spend next year’s budget begins NOW. Over the next two weeks, I will host six “Neighborhood Assemblies” (five in English and one in Spanish) throughout the 49th Ward. The first assembly takes place Monday, April 23rd, 7:00 p.m. (complimentary pizza served at 6:30 p.m.) at Sullivan High School, 6631 N. Bosworth (enter through the door in the middle of the block). If you can’t make this assembly, there are five more to choose from. For more information, including a list of all the Participatory Budgeting Neighborhood Assemblies, visit: https://www.ward49.com/news/decide-how-to-spend-1-million-to-improve-the-neighborhood-participatory-budgeting-begins-next-week/

Morse/Sheridan - Safe Area?

I am looking at moving onto this block. It appears cute with some shops near by during the day/early evening. Is this area safe? It does seem like there is a lot of activity. I am looking to relocate from Andersonville area.

I called them when this was posted and asked this question, Neal. The guy who answered the phone went off to ask someone, probably Victoria. He returned and said they would be open on the 18th. I suggest you call for a reservation early tomorrow when they open.
