OFA supporters are change-makers. We're bold. We speak out for progress. And we fight for change by getting organized. Right now, we need folks like you—smart, passionate people—more than ever. The Fellowship equips new organizers with the tools and training to bring people together to address root challenges facing local communities.

For six weeks, Fellows learn from experienced organizers and trainers through weekly online trainings. Fellows get a deep dive into the theory of change behind community organizing, then, when possible, work side-by-side with experienced community organizers where they live.

Throughout the program, Fellows are challenged to build community relationships, develop fundamental organizing skills, and explore their leadership potential.

What you’ll do as a Community Engagement Fellow:

Participate in a Fellows orientation
Attend online training every Wednesday at 7:30pm CT from 3/28 to 5/2
Complete weekly assignments after each online training
Application process and timeline:

Application deadline: Wednesday, March 14, 2018
Acceptance will occur on a rolling basis
Program orientation training: Saturday, March 24, 2018

  • Phill "Obama wants to know everything"

Yeah, but Democrats don't care about the DACA people. President Trump's plan multiplies DACA recipients x3 and Democrats still don't want it.
Why? Because Democrats know that a wall, and the end of mass migration and visa lotteries is detrimental to their VOTES.
Yes, everybody needs to know that the Democratic party NEEDS new immigrants for their (future) VOTES. They depend on that. Why? Because newer generations are becoming more and more conservative and because there is a reduction of Democratic babies.

Black Panther's identity politics give the superhero genre a fresh spin
The first black superhero in mainstream American comics, Marvel's Black Panther came with an African pedigree: in real life he's the ancestral king of a small, impoverished sub-Saharan nation that conceals a secret empire, the whole operation empowered by an asteroid from outer space.

Helen, the sons and daughters of Democrats are going to vote Democratic, the (many) sons and daughters of Republicans are going to vote Republican. What do you think? That people see this movie and instantly change their views and think that having open borders is a wonderful thing?

And Generation Z is the most conservative generation in a big while. Do you know this?

  • Yeah, just an "awesome" 3D movie. What's the confusion?

You may want to check Yelp for AutoTecx. I believe they've recently relocated from the 1700 block of Touhy to the 7100 block of Clark. I have an ancient car which needed work 3 or 4 times in the last 14 months, and each time I was completely satisfied with the service I received. The owner is not only polite and well-spoken, but will answer your questions and doesn't treat women like ditzes. He's a nice man who seems ethical and inspires confidence. Hourly rates are a bit lower than another popular shop in the neighborfhood, which is a plus.

Missing Dog Alert!

MISSING DOG ALERT.
A shaggy black lab with a red collar ran away in the northeast Rogers Park area. His name is Klaus. He was last seen running north on the beach at Touhy. I was watching him at the time. My name is Max. If you find him, please call me at 708-846-6780. He belongs to Jess Scott and Paxton Grey who live on Morse.

  • Helen NoH North of Howard for 55 + years

Those who would take the time to read the whole thread would know that he was hit by a car and killed, RP. I'm not sure which emotion I'm feeling stronger--sadness that this beautiful dog is dead or anger that he was allowed to run in the park off leash.

FOIA #18-164:Sweetened Beverage Tax "total revenue collected to date" February 16, 2018

FOIA #18-164:

Sweetened Beverage Tax "total revenue collected to date from the Cook County sweetened beverage tax," February 16, 2018.

Collected: $60,719,954

Shortfall: $12,980,046

Revenue goal: $73.7 million.

https://chicago.suntimes.com/chicago-politics/report-shows-countys-revenue-flow-misses-projected-mark/

Report shows Cook County's revenue flow misses projected mark
Although the pop tax was only in effect for a little over three months, revenue still fell $27 million short of the Cook County's $73.7 million goal, data shows. The internal report obtained by the Sun-Times also reveals that the contentious, penny-an-ounce sweetened beverage levy wasn't the only one that didn't meet its target - four other taxes lowered Cook County's expected revenue stream, dropping it by $5.4 million.

  • They'll just find something else to tax..I hardly buy juice or soda so I didn't care ..but people were outraged ..I am a smoker and they tax my cigs ..i never complained about it..nobody forces me to buy them ..now when I think about it in that regard..pop drinkers annoy me ..lol jk.🤣

They're required under federal law to disclose every arrest they make, but they're not required to provide details on those incidents and are exempt from providing lots of other information that normal police department have to disclose.

Catalytic Converter Theft

The thieves are back. Stealing catalytic converters. This happened in 6700 block of Newgard so BE WARNED. Sadly the vehicle is old and the cost to replace outweighs value. Very sad and to know this happens right in front of our houses when sleeping is disconcerting.

  • Be careful of the Leather Archives chili entry Helen. It might be sadistically hot. Ask what the S&M rating of their chili is. That's the Scoville Unit and Masochism rating. Be cautious if it's above 100,000 because that's Habañero, Bhut Jolokia and Trinidad Scorpion territory.

Thanks for the warning, Live, but I doubt that ghost and Trinidad Scorpion peppers are available at Morse Market or anywhere else around here.
