AS50, yes I did have back-up insurance. This is the third or fourth time in 20+ years, but this time it didn't drain itself; hence the clean-up service. Prior to this, it came up and then went back down shortly. They will pump out, clean up (I have terrible back problems and couldn't do it myself), and then sanitize and dry out. It wasn't free with insurance but will cost me less than $1000 after deductible, it will be DONE--the right way. I have had the sewer rodded out a few times over the years, most recently a few years ago. This will have to be done again, but that's something that has to be done under any circumstances, but maybe more often.

  • @DebbieM, glad to hear the basement will be cleaned up correctly. It's something we take for granted sometimes, a dry basement over the lifetime of home ownership.

Huge Protest Planned For Milo Yiannopoulos' Patio Theater Show

CHICAGO — More than 300 people were signed up by Friday afternoon to meet alt-right provocateur Milo Yiannopoulos with chants and pickets signs when he arrives for a scheduled speaking event at Patio Theater, 6008 W. Irving Park Road, next month.

But Melissa Basilone, who co-owns four businesses in the 6000 block of Irving Park Road with her husband Joe, said the theater operators were "shooting themselves in the foot" with their controversial decision.

The Basilones offered to host protesters at their Perkolator Cafe, 6032 W. Irving Park Road, posting in the event page that "Hate has no home in the Irving Austin Business District, period."

"Not sure what that has to <do> with anything, but here it goes... Would you like to know every work field or just current?"

What it has to do with anything is that you implied that others, school kids included, may depend on cubs for particular services and I'm assuming (yes, once again making an assumption) that you feel that others are depending on you for something. If others are depending on one or both of you for something, I guarantee that education played some part in you getting there. If you are just sitting at home mining bitcoin illegally to make money, then that's another story, but I am sure that what you are doing for your work field is doing something for society in some way, regardless of whether you dropped out of high school or managed to get a couple of doctorate degrees. Somewhere along the line, education helped you and a teacher made a difference in your life, whether you want to admit it or not.

But yeah, I have to admit, I am interested in what someone so bitter towards education does for a living. Me, I work in Information Security for one of the world's biggest IT firms and, although, I did not *need* formal education to get where I am in life, it sure helped to have teachers inspire me along the way. I am extremely overpaid for the amount of effort that I put in compared to the amount of effort teaches put in for their much smaller salaries.

  • "What it has to do with anything is that you implied that others, school kids included, may depend on cubs for particular services "

I think you misunderstood my response

"They also MAY still count on cubs for some purpose themselves. (Medicaid, public aid) your assumption is as good as mine."...

"They also MAY still count on cubs for some purpose themselves. (Medicaid, public aid) your assumption is as good as mine."

Meaning maybe they will grow up and not work at all or provide services to cubs. They could follow in the footsteps of their parents and teachers and rely on taxes to provide them things like education or donations for books etc.

"If others are depending on one or both of you for something, I guarantee that education played some part in you getting there."

I don't need an education to pay taxes. That was what I was referring to depending on us for.

BREAKING NEWS!!! FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE...

From the Office of Mayor Wrong E. Manual

As a result of an intensive 10 year study from the University of Chicargo, the city council has voted for the immediate removal of all automobiles, vans, trucks or similar devices from within the city. The study clearly shows that 100% of all accidents involving injury to pedestrians and motorists or their passengers are associated with self powered motorized conveyances. Therefore, the only sound remedy is the removal of all such machines from our community.

Effective on December 1, 2017, any person possessing or operating an automobile, van, truck or similar device within the city limits will be arrested on felony one charges of willful pubic endangerment under the new municipal code (under home rule exception). There will be no second chance.

New transportation permits will be available for single or multiple horse, mule or bicycle drawn carriages at a rate varying from $50-200 per year. There will be an additional fine for failure to remove animal feces on the roadway of $50 per incident.

Because of their ability to exceed new speed limits of 10 MPH, genetically engineered transportation animals are forbidden and if suspected, a DNA sample will be taken. If found in violation, an additional fine of $1,000.

For those citizens requiring handicapped exemptions, rickshaw allowances may be granted upon full vetting and approval. Prevailing applicants must demonstrate they cannot walk from the corner of State and Madison to clerk's desk at city hall without having a heart attack or stroke.

Regardless of conveyance form, a city sticker priced at $500 per year will still be required for each axle of a conveyance.

Existing boot and impoundment ordinances will remain in force as modified for the new forms of conveyances.

Stay tuned for more details... LOL!
