BeefBelly restaurant has closed.

The BeefBelly restaurant at Lawrence and Central has closed. The shades are all shut with paper signs saying Tipsy Cow Cantina. Always thought it was odd to open so close to BrgrBelly on Irving.

From their Facebook page...

'We have decided that serving burgers at both Beefbelly & the “original” Brgrbelly within a 1 mile radius does not make a lot of sense and is pretty redundant for our great Northwest Side neighborhood so we have decided to re-concept and re-model Beefbelly into a Fresh & Funky Fiesta!! The "Tipsy Cow Cantina” opens this December and will feature tacos, salads, burritos, nachos, live music, karaoke, an amazing margarita bar…get ready for a whole new fresh and fun environment…

Also, Molly & Myles Ice Cream has closed for the season. We look forward to seeing you this coming Spring.'

I get my Jewish deli needs taken care of at JB's Deli. They'll deliver (if you're not willing to take the trip), they're authentic, ridiculous with meat amounts on sandwiches, & delicious.

Wow! Hey, people didn't like the food, and didn't go there. Why not realize that and move on.
Also, want to bring a new place? Do it right! Give people what they want, and your business will do well.
Going back and forth on everyblock is not going to do anything for you.

Flooded basement

I have about 12 inches of water in my basement from the recent storm that needs to be pumped out. Can anyone recommend someone honest and reliable?

  • AS50, yes I did have back-up insurance. This is the third or fourth time in 20+ years, but this time it didn't drain itself; hence the clean-up service. Prior to this, it came up and then went back down shortly. They will pump out, clean up (I have terrible back...

AS50, yes I did have back-up insurance. This is the third or fourth time in 20+ years, but this time it didn't drain itself; hence the clean-up service. Prior to this, it came up and then went back down shortly. They will pump out, clean up (I have terrible back problems and couldn't do it myself), and then sanitize and dry out. It wasn't free with insurance but will cost me less than $1000 after deductible, it will be DONE--the right way. I have had the sewer rodded out a few times over the years, most recently a few years ago. This will have to be done again, but that's something that has to be done under any circumstances, but maybe more often.

  • @DebbieM, glad to hear the basement will be cleaned up correctly. It's something we take for granted sometimes, a dry basement over the lifetime of home ownership.

Mental Health Therapy Friendly Office Space in the area?

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone had suggestions of available rental space for a mental health therapy office in the Old Irving park, Kilbourn park, Irving Park, and Portage Park areas. I am more than happy to sublet from existing practices. I am hoping to find an office suitable for individual and family therapy, and it would be amazing to find a group therapy space as well.

Thank you so much for your time.

  • Weebis SWCC Vet. (Ret.)

Thanks Mute. I was just curious. The place has sort of a mysterious aura.

  • Even my explanation has a mysterious aura. Due to privacy laws its hard to exactly say what kind of patients are getting treatment there bit that's what I could dig up.

Texas Corral

Passed by yesterday and it appears there is a building permit posted on the door
Anyone know what might be going here next

  • People are so excited for this...I don't get it.

  • I wouldn't say I'm excited but living in Chicago all my life I've only been to a culvers once. When I travelled to Wisconsin. I would have liked a steak n shake better but there's always Jeff's red hots on cicero

Martini Club?

Hi, recent addition to Portage Park here! Does anyone know the scoop on Martini Club on Irving Park? It seems to be closed, but then I saw it was open the other night. Is it really, as the name implies, a martini club?

  • Is the new mikes any good? Do they have food?

  • The new Mike's? If you're talking about the bar at 5134 W Irving, though the Mike's sign is out front, the bar is actually called Margaret's. And yeah, they serve grub.

Amazon HQ2

Is Chicago in line to win the Amazon HQ2 sweepstakes? How would this affect the city? The Lincoln Yards site along the Chicago River has been most talked about. The site will have a new Metra stop, water taxi and 606 trail extension. So what about housing? The addition of 50,000 jobs will obviously increase demand. In the seven years since Amazon established it's first HQ in Seattle, home prices are up 83% and the average median price for a home is 700k. Average median price for Chicago is 306k. Anyone owning a home now could see a huge jump in equity. Same for anyone who buys before Amazon announces the winner next year.

Needing to liquidate our Quinceanera Gowns

I have a bridal and social occasion shop in Portage Park (Kasia's Bridal & Special Occasion Boutique). I am looking to liquidate my quinceanera gowns/department to reinvest in divisions we just seem to do better in and that's bridal, bridesmaids dresses, eveningwear and prom. I am not sure how to better market these beautiful gowns other than just by word of mouth, at this point. We have some 800 beautiful ball gowns in-stock, in various colors and sizes. All are...

All are brand new or like new, that I am willing to sell at 50% off, making them less expensive than any other shop (or website for that matter). If you're looking for a gown, or know someone celebrating an event in which a gown like this is customary, please pass our name along with this 50% off promotion - I would love to re-merchandise our store to cater to what sells better.
Thank you in advance and cheers!

  • @Kathy L.: If you make a post on your FB page, PPNA would be happy to share it.

  • I posted it earlier today on my @kasiasbridal Facebook page, Instagram and on Twitter. Thank you to everyone passing this along, it's working - we have people calling booking appointments and walking out with smiles and gorgeous gowns!!! Thank you - would love to sell all of these!!

Try now the "FLavourites" of the day : taro [ube] or halo-halo with chunks of tropical fruits

  • They have delicious empanadas, too. The TSAP (potatoes) is my favorite.

  • Sue Portage Park-er

Great place, we love the empanadas and bubble tea too.
