Dog Poop Around Onahan

Walking my dog this morning around the perimeter of Onahan, I encountered 5 (five) piles of dog poop left behind by dogs and their owners. What's even worse is 2 (two) of the piles were on the sidewalk and stepped in by an unsuspecting pedestrian or YOUNG STUDENT.

To those of you who don't pick up after your dog, I am watching. Start picking up after your dog's mess. If you don't, I will call you out and you may also end up with a nice pile on your front steps.

If you want to live like an animal, move to the West or South side because that's not how we roll on the Far Northwest side!!!

  • We don't "roll like that" on the south side either. Smh.

  • Just curious Nicole, what stake do u have in this conversation seeing as how u live about 28 miles from Norwood Park East???

Ada's is closing

The Ada's on NW Hwy. is going out of business. Everything is 30% off this week. Information came from the Norwood Park chamber of commerce.

  • This is at least the 2nd failed attempt at a Mom-n-Pop grocery store at this location.

I think it's a shame particularly when u consider the terrible city health inspection history of nearby Shop-n-Save.

  • Well "The Produce Center " can join them with spoiled vegetables and fruit, expired items.

I would like to appeal to the compassion and empathy of my fellow neighbors within a few blocks of Onahan School. Please make an effort to not use salt as a melting agent on your sidewalks. As you know, if you live in this area, we have a high concentration of dogs. This salt reeks havoc on their little paws. Please shovel in a timely fashion and allow Mother Nature to evaporate any residue that remains. Please note that salt is ineffective at about 10 degrees and lower.

Also of note, salt will more quickly degrade your cement and you will face expenses much sooner to replace or repair. It also does damage to your grass in the spring and its not good for your floors or carpeting if you track that into your own home.

Thank you in advance for your consideration.

Thank you COC Bldg Dept!

I am finally leaving this mess of a landlord and 2 flat. My hats off to the City of Chicago Bldg Department for their very prompt response.

To other potential renters, DO NOT go to this location to rent! I'm out of here! Here's the proof that you'll need. My complaint is for December 2017.

  • St. Thecla reviewed by a parent

Middle school math was disappointing. For various reasons, my child and another student were self-teaching and 9 units ahead of the class in Math. The pastor and admin were aware of this. My child passed Math with a solid 96% avg cumulative. A month before my child would be taking an Alg exit exam ( an exam that all CPS high school students take--to skip Alg 1), I reached out to the permanent math sub to find out what parts of the curriculum were not covered--so that I could help my child if needed. There was a perm math sub bc there was a decision to not replace the math teacher in the beginning of the year. She responded with they were "following the curriculum." My child did not pass the standard CPS Algebra Exit exam. There were topics on the test she did not know. So, either it was not taught or Archdiocese schools are definitely behind CPS in math. We transferred out.

I moved to this neighborhood about a year ago and was very excited about this store because of the selection of prepared foods they sell. However, I have gotten severely ill twice after eating prepared food purchased from the store and so had stopped going there. Now I know why I got sick......
