Comcast Door-to-door

This evening a man claiming to be from Comcast went door-to-door asking if the home had internet, cable, and security. He did not try to sell us any services. I called Comcast and they said door-to-door sales people have to carry ID from either Comcast or X-Finity. Sharing this so others are aware.

Magic word is reseller. Thanks though.

  • I encountered a man name Peter from Comcast. Friendly guy. Very informative that I actually switched from ADT to infinity Home.

Website/Blog devoted to Mayfair News?

I moved here from Hollywood (Florida) and we had a few local blogs that just talked about neighborhood stuff. Is there anything like that for Mayfair, or maybe the surrounding areas? Seems like Mayfair isn't very well known.

Memorial Day 2016 - Flags at Half-Staff - Presidential Proclamation

Remember that on Memorial Day, our flag is to be at half-staff. If you cannot fly your flag at half-staff, it is acceptable to attach a black ribbon to the top grommet. The ribbon then runs down the length of the flag. The Presidential Proclamation for Memorial Day is below.

BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA A PROCLAMATION

With courage and a love of country that knows no limits, America's men and women in uniform exemplify patriotism at its core -- stepping into harm's way to protect our people and to safeguard the ideals that have long sustained our democracy. Those who serve under the stars and stripes embody the highest form of citizenship, and on Memorial Day, we pay solemn tribute to those brave Americans who laid down their lives to defend our freedom.

Since America's earliest days, proud patriots have forged a safer, more secure Nation, and though battlefields have changed and technology has evolved, the selflessness of our service members has remained steadfast. They have stepped forward when our country was locked in revolution and civil war; fought threats of fascism and terrorism; and led the way in securing peace and stability around the globe. They have sacrificed more than most of us could ever imagine -- not for glory or gratitude, but for causes greater than themselves. In the children who replicate their courage and strength, in the spouses and partners who forever seek to mend their broken hearts, and in the parents who mourn the absence of the sons and daughters they raised, we are reminded of our enduring commitment to do right by our fallen warriors and their families.

Greetings Neighbors,

Have you ever attended a flag ceremony? Do you have your Memorial Day plans already in place?

The Edgebrook Community Association (ECA) is responsible for maintaining the flag located at the triangle located at Lehigh, Devon and Caldwell. This Memorial Day, Monday, May 30 at 9 AM, we will retire the existing Star and Stripes and hoist a new American flag (and then return it to half-staff) at this very triangle. All are welcome and invited to attend this brief, 20 minute flag ceremony. Dennis Paterka (Edgebrook resident, veteran) and I will lead the flag ceremony and we welcome those in attendance to assist, as requested, with the ceremony. Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts are specifically requested to attend, in uniform, and could be called upon to assist.

The flag ceremony will pay respect to the flag of our nation, and as it will be Memorial Day we will take a moment to honor the women and men who have given the ultimate measure of devotion for our freedom. Please come prepared to speak the name, conflict and branch of service of those military members (family, neighbors, friends, co-workers, etc...) you know gave their all on our behalf while serving in our Armed Forces. Once those present have spoken on behalf of those who can no longer speak for themselves, we will honor a moment of silence.

The flag ceremony will take approximately 20 minutes. Gather on the sidewalk adjacent to the flagpole.

We will also collect American flags (only) that need to be properly disposed of. Please bring them to the flag ceremony. Flags collected will be burned at a separate time.

We hope you can attend, especially if you have never seen a flag ceremony and otherwise have no plans for Memorial Day. It can be a very moving experience.

Cuba Libre- new restaurant near Elston/Lawrence?

Does anyone know if this restaurant is open? It replaced a Mexican restaurant near the corner of Elston and Lawrence. I see lights, signs... But doesn't seem open yet? Anyone know?
