postal service

We have had many problems with our service for many years ever since our regular deliveryman retired. They kept changing persons, and not assigning a permanent carrier to our area. I dealt with our congressman Quigley's office, and Jefferson station personal with little success. Only recently have we been told that a person has been assigned to this route on a regular schedule. Hopefully no more missed bills and important mail.
Another problem I notice is that now that carriers have company vehicles, they feel free to park illegally around the neighborhood. Since we have narrow two-way streets this causes difficult, and dangerous situations at intersections. Unfortunately the police ignore the situation.

missing mail

Has anyone else been having trouble with packages being delivered? I've never worried about packages getting stolen, but the week of August 15th we had three packages marked as "delivered" that were nowhere in the mail area, including a package that was definitely small enough to fit in our mailbox. Is it the postal service? Is someone stealing packages?

  • I'm sorry this is happening to other people, but relieved that it's not just me. I got a refund from Amazon and reordered to an Amazon locker location-- it was so easy, I wish I could get all of my packages that way. I've used the UPS store before for ala carte package receiving, I might just have to go back to that.

Agreed with Julie, Amazon locker is also wonderful!. The only limitations are:
-Only Amazon can ship items to an Amazon locker (you can't use USPS,Fedex, or UPS to ship directly to an Amazon locker)
    -Have product dimensions smaller than 16.5 x 13.8 x 12.6 inches
-Have a shipping weight that is less than 10 lbs

    Hope this help, thnx!

Glad he was reunited with his "flock". You put an incredible amount of time and effort into the reunion! You're the best :)

  • Thanks for helping. He could have gotten into the wrong hands or hit by a car. Thanks for saving his life and finding the owners.

Hello everyblockers,

I am a participant in the city of Chicago shared sidewalk program and anxiously awaiting my new concrete (it's in pretty bad shape). I have been hoping it gets done sooner rather than later. Today to my amazement, the sidewalks are spray painted marking where the concrete will be replaced. I'm just wondering how much longer before they come and remove the old concrete so I can take a day off of work to ask if they'll replace two extra squares that are on my property. My thinking is that I can pay the contractor out of my pocket to do extra squares. Does anyone have an idea of when they'll come out and do it from this point? Should be soon? Anyone out there that has an idea? Any indications would help greatly. Thanks in advance

  • Jules79 Real estate broker / candy addict

Luis- that's great! And you got it for half the price I did ;) hoping we will be any day now.

  • When the surveyor came out to mark the sidewalk I got the number of the contractor and bugged them um sure more than they would've liked :-)
