Police Warn of Boystown Robberies Ahead of Pride Parade

The robberies have happened in a several block radius: From Roscoe to Belmont and Racine to Halsted--all in the early morning hours.

Police Warn of Boystown Robberies Ahead of Pride Parade
A warning of strong-arm robberies has been issued in Chicago's Boystown neighborhood just days before the annual Pride Parade, an event that draws tens-of-thousands of people
    http://www.nbcchicago.com

  • That makes no sense.

Are we to assume all these robberies (that are ongoing now) are going to subside AFTER the parade?

    I don't think so.

    Lakeview is a target regardless

trying to connect these crimes to the parade....what's the angle?

  • I would guess the angle is that more people will be coming into the Lakeview neighborhood from outlying areas and may have their guard down, not thinking to worry about robbers or pickpockets. And along with crowds who are relaxed and having a good time come the robbers and no-good-nicks looking for an easy mark.

Hank went missing on Friday 5/19 around 2:30PM when he got lose from the dog walker. He was last seen around Roscoe St. and Lake Shore Drive. We heard there was an accident and a dog was hit and killed around the time he went missing but we have checked with 311, CACC, various vets shelters and Lost dogs IL and there is no record of him or of a dog involved in a car accident. We still have hope he is out there until we have some answers. Please spread the word and keep an eye out for him. If you see him, do not chase him as he is confused and scared. Sit on the ground and try to give him a treat or softly call his name. I just want my baby home safe and sound, or to have closure if someone witnessed the accident and can confirm it was him. ;(. Thank you in advance for your help!!!

  • Don't give up hope. Never accept what you don't know for sure. If the police confirms the dog, then maybe. But please keep on searching and have faith.

Who the heck is this dog walker that shouldn't be walking dogs in the first place? Please tell us because I have two dogs and use walkers often.

Christina~I am so sorry that you have no real closure, either way. You said you've tried every avenue possible, so I assume you checked with the policeman taking the accident report or have read the report? You said there were two witnesses, were you able to show them a pic of your dog to get a more definite answer? What about the drivers of the cars? Could there possibly be some security videos in the area that may have caught your dog in that area around the time of the accident? A possible police car video? One last idea. Could you check w/Streets & San to see if they had to dispose of a deceased dog, on that day. I wonder if they have logs of what they have "picked up", for lack of a better word. I'm sorry if I have repeated what others may have said. Just trying to brainstorm to give you closure.
