Peoples Gas Parking Restrictions - Timeline?

Looks like the Southport/George area is getting ready for a Peoples Gas parking restriction marathon. Does anyone know the duration of the Peoples Gas construction and the surrounding area it is going to impact? George to Ashland? Southport to Diversey? Any cross streets? Would like to stay away from any unnecessary tickets or tows.

  • We had restrictions on Byron @Southport for 5 weeks. They kept pushing back the days. Then signs disappeared and they didn't end up doing anything. Extremely annoying

Possible Lost Cat

Possible Lost Cat- has been seen often on 1300 block of west Melrose Street - am trying to get it to warm up to me so I can take it to be checked for microchip. Very hard to tell if has clipped ear.

  • There are several signs posted on my street about a gray tabby cat. Will go look tonight for the contact info.

  • The sign says male, light brown gray tabby lost March 25 on the block of 1900 W Waveland. Left ear is notched. Microchipped. People friendly. But, the cat in the pic on this sign looks more brown in the pic than your pic. I'll text them and send this link.

Parking lot bait and switch?

Hi to my fellow Chicagoans in Lake View. Last night my family purchased parking passes online for James G. Blaine Elementary School at 1420 W. Grace for the Zac Brown concert. When we arrived at the parking lot, a provider attempted to charge us $40.00 each for the spots until we threatened to call the police.

Hi to my fellow Chicagoans in Lake View. Last night my family purchased parking passes online for James G. Blaine Elementary School at 1420 W. Grace for the Zac Brown concert. They were advertised for $9.00 by Parking jockey online. Realizing the bargain, we grabbed two spots immediately and printed our passes. When we arrived at the parking lot, a provider attempted to charge us $40.00 each for the spots until we threatened to call the police.

The offer was out of line for the area, I realize that. What I didn't like was the bait and switch tactics. Before I get upbraided for not taking public transportation, my other family members came in from Milwaukee and had to return home last night. Typically I will take public transportation to concerts at Wrigley.

How is it that the DNAInfo correctly notes that this was in Albany Park but when ported over to EveryBlock it becomes Lincoln Square ? If the EB posting algorithm is going to editorialize it should at least use a map function as well.

  • The original DNA Info article had it as Lincoln Square too. Obviously EB pulled it in before DNA Info went back and corrected their article.

Looking for a Dog Walker

Can anyone recommend a dog walker for the Lakeview area? We have an 11 yr old lab who needs to be walked occasionally during the day and possibly boarded from time to time. Thanks.

  • I use wags. I've had some issues previously with their walkers. One of them didn't know I was in the back room and o had a walk scheduled, she came in and started yelling at my dogs. I came out and kicked her out of my place, she ended up getting fired.

But I think they are changing things around and are getting better. They are convenient and I like their app and report cards. They also show how many times they did their business. :-)

  • I used Shirley's Pet Project when I lived in Lakeview and was really upset when I moved out of her service area!
