Typical ComEd bill?

Hi, Everyblockers! I just moved into a new studio and am wondering about my ComEd bill. It was $30 for the first 20 days and I never once used AC or heat. I don't have a TV or many electronics at all. Does this seem about right? Has me really nervous for really hot and cold weather months.

  • A&K

Katie I wouldn't worry much about a $30 electric bill. If you want to cut costs be sure to keep any extra lights off. For extra savings switch your bulbs to LED on the lights you use most often. If you purchase a TV pick one out that is LED. The savings is worth it. Remember you may be getting some left over from the last tenants/owners. See how bill #2 shakes out. You may be surprised.

  • I have a studio, no A/C. I'm there only 4 nites a week. 450 SQ FT. I'm paying around $35.00 a month. If I put in my window A/C unit it will bump it up around another $100.00.

Shot at in day light near Costco

Sunday afternoon around 5P I was driving south on Damen, almost at Diversey (between Wellington and George) and someone shot at my car just missing my passenger window.

Thank you for posting this. I go that way to costco almost weekly with my child. I'll find an alternate route now for sure. Very glad you didn't get hit!

  • FGFM What the Cappleman!

I was visiting a friend in Lathrop Homes back in the day and someone fired six very obvious, very loud gunshots right outside his window. A manhunt did not ensue.

Stan's Donuts

Does anyone know what's going on with the Stan's that's supposed to open on Diversey and Clark? The sign says "coming in the Spring" but I haven't seen any activity going on there.

  • It's a neighborhood in transition.

  • I'd like to know, too - and while we're at it, what about the old Hanig's shoe store? I'd heard that a restaurant was going in there, but it's been boarded up for months now.

    Enquiring minds want to know!

  • I was at their other location (Stan's) in Bucktown a couple weeks ago and was told that Lakeview wasn't opening until closer to July. They said that they were waiting on construction to finish & permits.
