  • When the federal government provided 56M for the project, it became a transportation thoroughfare.

It was not exclusively made as a bicycle trail but part of the agreement with the federal dollars meant that it must be used as a transportation route. Which includes all form of transportation, including walking, biking, skate-boarding, and no limitations on your dog companion.

  • Ellen,
I agree with your recollection. Also, the East end of the Trail is walking distance to the Metra at Ashland and Armitage, so it was considered a leg ( pardun the pun) to downtown or out to the burbs.

Also, The Friends of the Bloomingdale Trail was run by a bunch of bicycle enthusiasts, which is who took the point for 15 years on this project.

  • Whoops - right - the new station is just to the west of it.....thanks

  • Jeffrey Littleton If you can't be a poet, be the poem.

Yep they built the new station in my old playground at LeMoyne Elementary, now Inter-American School. Back then it was an over-crowded school we needed that space, these days there are few kids in the neighborhood between pre-school age and post-college.
