  • Kinda easy to say the City should green light traffic through the area east of 90/94 overpass when you don’t live there. That section of Chicago Ave is very dangerous because people fly through at 50+mph. And that street you use to bypass Chicago Ave to get to Elston is now just as dangerous with high speed traffic disregarding stop signs and pedestrians

  • It's dangerous along other parts too. Eastbound drivers between Western and Damen speed as well. Maybe they're trying to make it through the intersection before the light changes. I don't know, it's been a while since I've driven that way.

Some people are just stupid, racing to an intersection is not going to make the light change any faster.

Maybe the city should install speed cameras at the overpass and start ticketing.

But that won't solve the congestion problem. I still think they should try a rush hour parking ban, at least temporarily, along some parts.

As for drivers ignoring stop signs...I don't know when or why it happened, but the city installed them at just about every intersection on the side streets, even where it makes no sense (like Hubbard at the Kennedy, where it intersects with two dead end streets). I think this has led to a general disrespect for traffic signs and signals.
