Long-awaited Red & White Wine Bar now open in Bucktown

1861 N. Milwaukee Ave., 773-486-4769, www.redandwhitewineschicago.com

Long-awaited Red & White Wine Bar now open in Bucktown
It's taken some time, but Red & White Wine Bar is finally open. Quietly opened to the public on Jan. 4, the spacious, European-style wine bar adjoins the 10-year-old retail space of the same name. Don't expect to see the same bottles, though.

Former fireplace and Aspira building being torn down @ Altgeld and Western

Any idea what's going on at this property?

  • Joe Kopera Logan Square resident since 1961 (57 years in Jan)

A pawn shop was in the original plan which was rejected due to Moreno's people being caught helping the developer with petitions and free drinks at the bar across from the plan development if the showed up at the community meeting to voice support.. Later plans a year or two later did not include the pawn shop and after a couple of community meeting later a plan was approved.

  • Mark Heller Logan Square & Chicago activist

Alderman Moreno approved zoning change to B3-3 (from Manufacturing M1-2) in 2016 for 4 story 50 ft tall building with 34 residential units, 2,200 sq ft retail space, & 34 garage parking spaces. No setbacks from lot lines. B3-3 allows via Special Use biz like tavern, pawn shop, tattoo parlor...
