Recommendation: Snow removal

Our condo association is in the need of a new snow removal company and hoping to find some local from the neighborhood. Does anyone have a recommendation?

Where to find Albany Park themed gifts

Hi all, anyone know of a good place to find Albany Park themed gifts? My wife and I like to decorate our place with gifts representing neighborhoods that we've lived in. Thanks for the suggestions!

There is a store on Montrose and Damen called "Neighborly" they make all kinds of things for lots of different neighborhoods in the city. I would check there for sure. I believe they actually make the merchandise as well so you may be able to request something as well if they don't have it in the store. Also, "Four Sided" on Clark, and I believe it's Ainslie, in Andersonville carries some neighborhood things as well.

What is going on at Botanica Lucero, 4644 N Kedzie Ave?

I live nearby and pass by the shop almost every day. The front of the building seems to be a store that sells religious icons, statues and whatnot. The back of the store leads out to a small patio area, which hosts small parties, like quinceaneras, which have music into the night-time hours.

I live nearby and pass by the shop almost every day. The front of the building seems to be a store that sells religious icons, statues and whatnot. The back of the store leads out to a small patio area, which hosts small parties, like quinceaneras, which have music into the night-time hours.

This week, a work crew put up a metal awning on the back of the store. Lights on the extended patio also went up. Now, tonight, there's music, dancing and drinking going on back there. (Yes, I live that close ... no binoculars needed!)

I was mighty fine with the afternoon parties and music into the night ... but now I'm thinking that it's gone into something more unsanctioned (i.e. illegal) and possibly not such a good addition to our neighborhood.

Anyone know how to check if they have a permit to do this? And whether the addition to the back of the store was permitted by the city?

It's not exactly an after-hours club, but I do worry about the safety of the situation. The back of the lot has a locked gate and if anyone needs to get out (like during the fireworks celebration they had on the 4th), it could be a death trap.

  • Are they licensed to hold parties? A store is a different license than a facility that hosts parties. Call the alderman about that. Noise that is excessive late at night should be reported to 911 while it is happening. Attend you CAPS meeting and let the police know that there is an issue.
