Crime Reports Don’t Reflect Violent Crime Near 6 Chicago Universities

“The crime occurred near Albion and Lakewood, which per the Clery Act, is not within the university’s reportable geographical boundaries,” said a Loyola University spokesman. “Thus, the Clery Act prohibits us from including that crime in the annual safety bulletin.”

On a Friday night in December of 2014, Mutahir Rauf was walking with his brother near Loyola University when two men walked up, showed a gun and tried to rob him. The 23-year-old, who was studying at Loyola to be a doctor, tried to grab the gun.

Calls for Police Accountability Grow

    Calls for Police Accountability Grow
A Chicago Tribune investigation revealed over the weekend that just 1 percent of Chicago police officers are responsible for almost a third of all misconduct lawsuits, costing the city millions of dollars in settlements. This finding comes as the mayor's appointed task force on police accountability works to come up with recommendations to fix the cultural and oversight issues within the Chicago Police Department.

We need accoumtability for more, than just brutality that carries a settlement pricetag.
We need policing that will keep residents living in,the poorer neighborhoods safe.

Flooding the streets woth bodies that do not improve crime and safety is bankrupting the city.

Accountability, where stats can manipulate crime...by not arresting...gives a false representation to conditions on the street. It makes a force look good...when crime spikes through the roof.
