There were over 100 people that came to the meeting that were against it. I agree that anyone there would have raised their eyebrows at the facts the people said against Arena.

  • Dennis 30 year Jefferson Park resident

Yes, Miss Colleen. Lots of people against who yelled and railed and talked over anyone whom they disagreed with. A totally polite and civil crowd, many from miles away. Is there anyone from the opposition who is polite enough to permit the other side to state their case?

Gardening

I know officially it's supposed to be May-ish but I think I'm going to start with the root vegetables. Is anyone else starting?

By the way, new owners at farmers market garden supply. Nice ladies too, help support small businesses.

Blood meal is an awesome fertilizer, however omnivores will be drawn to it. So you may exchange bunnies for rats, cats, dogs

  • True about blood meal possibly drawing omnivores. Another repellent for rabbits and other critters is cayenne pepper & garlic. Cayenne sprinkled along the perimeter of our yard deters dogs with unscrupulous owners (those who never pick-up after their pets) from entering our yard to leave surprises. Seems to also help with feral cats.

Multiple firetrucks police and ambulance on Elston/Irving Park 3/20/17?

I was just curious to know if anyone knows what happened? I drove past there around about 2:30 today and saw like 10 firetrucks, 10 police and a few ambulances. They blocked off Elston and had us redirect onto Irving. Hope nothing too serious?

What does this gang tag mean?

We just moved in about 3 months ago, and today my husband and kids came home to find this lovely little artwork on our garage door. We moved here from Uptown, so graffiti is not a huge deal to me and I'm calling 311 to take care of it, but just trying to figure out what kind of meaning this tag has and whether we can just ignore it. Sounds like they got a couple other properties in our area too.
Thanks, all!

That is not a v in the vk, its a flipped a, for ambrose, who have gained a set in that immediate area.

The are some cvls in the general area, but few blocks north and few blocks west.

There are no Satan D's anywhere close to the area.

Portage Park has a 4ch set, and I believe the closest, so this is probably that set. 4ch have no history in this area, most likely came in to taunt the aa.

  • Frances E. just another resident

This article gave me a craving for Thai food, so I decided to give ToTT the benefit of the doubt and ordered from them yesterday. About five minutes after I placed my order via GrubHub, the restaurant called to tell me that the GH menu is wrong and they don't actually serve the dish I ordered. Laura the blogger still sounds like kind of a pain to deal with, but frankly, so is the restaurant. There are no winners here.

  • We went once and won't go back. We were with someone who cannot each fish ordered a deep fried appetizer that was fish free but tasted of fish because of the oil it was fried in. There is much better Thai food. That whole development was a boondoggle that used 1 million in TIF money.

  • It isn't easy. In fact, owning and operating a business in this city is a huge risk, and there are many obstacles. There is very little appreciation or understanding as to what goes in to creating a business in the first place...the process doesn't begin in the alderman's office, and it sure doesn't begin with a desire by anyone other than those willing to take the risk and do the work.
