Eli's Cheesecake Remains The Only Taste Of Chicago Original After 36 Years
CHICAGO - Thirty-six food vendors took part in the first Taste of Chicago on July 4, 1980. Thirty-six years later, only one of them is still in business and still a participant at the annual festival. And after all those years, it's probably the most recognizable one: Eli's Cheesecake.

Fire near N. Central Park and Irving Park Roads

Was at US Bank on Irving and smelled, then saw a fire near the N.W corner of Central Park and Irving Park Road. It was at the back of one of the buildings in the alley. Smelled like wood and a car burning. Called 911, 20 rings later they picked up and transferred me to the Fire department. That phone rang more than 20 times and I already heard fire trucks on the way, so I hung up. Anyone know what's on fire over there?

  • Judy Weisenski

and if they do call it in, the 17th lost a bunch of officers to 'hot' zones, so there is nobody to respond. how about we hire some officers already? in case nobody's noticed, the great recession is over?!?!?

In 2000 we had 13500. Now, closer to 7500
