A 52-year-old woman left her car parked in the 2600 block of Ridge Avenue from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m, Glew said. When she returned to the lot, she reported to police her license plate was missing.

Police would only say the person they are questioning is a male who was brought into the police station Thursday after police executed a search warrant that day at a home in the 2000 block of Emerson Street.

Police: Man takes hammer to fitness studio window

A Pure Barre employee called police to investigate criminal damage at 7:54 p.m., Evanston police Cmdr. Ryan Glew said. The employee told police she was behind the studio’s front counter at 910 Church St. when a man in a coat with fur approached the store entrance from outside.

Police located the man in the 900 block of Church Street at 8 p.m., Glew said. Officers stopped him and found a hammer in his possession. The man was charged with criminal damage to property.

A 37-year-old resident who lives in the building in the 800 block of Hinman Avenue reported Wednesday that packages were missing from the common area, Glew said.

Blotter: 19-year-old Evanston man reports sidewalk robbery

The Evanston resident said he was walking in the 300 block of Asbury Avenue toward the Red Line at 2:45 p.m. Saturday when four men approached him. Evanston police Cmdr. Ryan Glew said one told the man “run your pockets,” which he told police he took as a robbery and fled.

He said the men chased him to an alley near Kirk Street and Asbury, where they took his phone and money, beat him and then fled. He said one of the men who had approached him dropped his own phone while running away.
