Hi, can anyone recommend a reliable plumber who can provide references? I need to have an outdoor outlet installed, and would be grateful for recommendations. Thank you!

  • "can anyone recommend a reliable plumber who can provide references? "

to clarify, are you asking for a plumber to recommend an electrician?

  • Wahahaha...I was thinking electrician, but typed plumber. Thank you so much for noticing. Yes, asking about an electrician, not a plumber.

Try home advisor. I used them on a few house projects. So far the services have been good.

  • I have a good electrician. I have referred him to several of my clients. All have been very happy with him. You can message me for his info. Lizmuscare@gmail.com I also have used homeadvisor for other contractors and have had very good results,

  • What do these electricians charge for installing can lights? Whats the per can charge?

We find the guidelines on this website accurate for estimating our electrical work https://www.homewyse.com/services/index.html

  • They might be accurate for Michigan Ave and and Rush street but they're pretty high for a lot of other places in Chicago.

The amount of time it takes to install a can light should be the same for any electrician. 2.4 hours (at least I think that's what it is) each is pretty accurate

  • 2.4 hours for ONE can light??? I wouldn't want that electrician on my block let alone my house.

  • 2.4 hours would be installing a can light where it is a new installation with no existing fixture or wiring and wires have to be pulled or added. this would include cutting a hole for the fixture. union rates may vary.

  • That's a pretty slow and expensive electrician who spends that amount of time on One can light. Again I'm sure that wouldn't sneezed at if the address was around water tower place.

stevio - as I mentioned above, you can help with the installation to save money on your project. Or you can hire someone without insurance who will do it for $30 an hour, and won't be concerned with having the work at code.

  • We've used this electrician named Julio, who offers very fair and competitive prices, works hard, and has done a great job for us. His phone # is 773-912-3199.

Prices are all over the place call and get prices, they must see job to give estimate

  • Mute Mute Me

    Plumbers instal outlets ?

  • Or you can become familiar with the code and still hire someone reasonably 25-30 bucks and hour and still make sure they do it to code without 250 and hour charge for one light.

Half of that money will go to taxes, leaving very little to cover insurance and other overhead, let alone a profit. Essentially, you want someone to do the work for free.

  • No,essentially the pricing is all over the place and not the exorbitant pricing quoted for ONE can light at a snails pace of 2 and a half hours
    at almost 300 bucks!! 😲

If you would like an estimate, please send an email to aikrandr@yahoo.com; include your address, phone number, and availability after 11/19. I will be happy to schedule a time for Howard to stop by.

  • Thanks for the offer but at the aforementioned prices/time frames I'll pass since I don't live at WaterTower place on Michigan Ave where those higher prices
would better suit the address and slow install times.

Hiring a plumber is not good, I made that mistake myself. Everytime I turned on the lights water came out the light fixtures.

  • You can call Rick from G. Electrical at 312-720-7474. Local electrician in Portage Park area.
