A good friend is looking for an apartment with a start date of October 1, 2012. The areas he's looking in includes the following borders:
- East to Pulaski
- West to Larabee
- North to Lawrence
- South to Addison

He wants a one or two bedroom unit that has laundry in the building and heat included in rent. His budget for monthy rent is $800 or less.

If you know of any places that are available, could you please share them? He's aready tried some of the places that have multiple listings. However, I love the EveryBlock community in Portage Park as a resource for so many things!

Thank you.

Those boundaries are pretty wide and include much more than just Portage Park. Not an expert at this thing..but would seem to include Old Irving Park, Mayfair, Jeff Park, etc. Make sure you include all neighborhood names if you want to capture the most comments.

I was thinking the same... Laramie instead of Larabee? And I believe Portage Park ends just east of Cicero Ave.

800 seems on the cheap side for a 1 or 2 bedroom with a washer/dryer ...or maybe I'm getting ripped off lol!

He definitely meant Laramie. I was looking about 7 months ago. Saw tons of listings on Craigslist. The places in his range - that I saw - were not all that great. If I notice any driving through the neighborhood I will pass them along but CL is a great resource.

  • . . .

$800 for a 2br or a "nice" 1 br might be tough to find. Check here - . There aren't many owners/building managers in this area that post on CL and opt for the good ole local paper

SE Corner of Kenneth and Irving park. 2bedroom first floor. Washer dryer in building. Heat included. Pretty sure it's right around $800. Don't have the number but there's signs on the front of the building. Added bonus you get to smell Sab's food.

Check this week's Reader , I saw some real reasonably priced apts in Portage Park and I know I saw a nice sounding one for less than 800 for a 2 bedroom.
