Anyone hear of coyote('s) on Pensacola just east of Milwaukee?

  • E E

Yes, we live in Old Irving (south of Irving Park and west of Pulaski Ave) and have been seeing coyotes in the area for 4 years. We think they walk down the Metra tracks into the Chicago neighborhoods looking for rabbits or rats (food). We have also been seeing a lot of skunks in the summer around the neighborhood.

  • Not sure of that specific area, but there are more around than people realize. It's not uncommon to see them running down the street. I recently recorded one at a house by Harlem and Foster. He had been running down the street and went directly to a house that had a bowl of food outside. I assume it was for the cats in the neighborhood, but he seemed to know right where it was. This was around noon. Very unusual to see them at that time.

  • Love that cat food Ann.

  • According to Streets & Sans people, the coyotes, skunks, raccoons and possums keep the rat population under control. Now if they'd just start eating the squirrels, that would be great!

  • I meant the critters, not the S&S people.

  • I saw a mother, pops, & baby crossing the street by Steinmetz High School at around 3 am. Were incredibly calm even though I was quite close due to not seeing their approach. Adorable.
