This is an annual event, much loved by some of the youngest residents of the neighborhood.

This is a great way to spend a few hours with your kids on a wintry Saturday morning!

Joe - you refer to this event as "your" 28th annual FREE VALENTINE’S DAY FILM EXTRAVAGANZA and mention that you've "teamed up" with the New 400 to present the movies. What exactly is your, or the Ward's, contribution to this effort?

  • Joe Moore Alderman, 49th Ward

The term "team up" means exactly that. I am hosting these movies in co-sponsorship with Tony Fox, the owner of the 400 Theater. Tony secures the movies and provides the free popcorn and drinks and I provide the publicity. In addition to my email blasts and social media posts, my office fliers the entire neighborhood and sends notices to all the schools in the ward.

In addition to doing this because he's a good guy, Tony tells me he always benefits from a bump in attendance at his theater during the weekend of the Valentine's Day Movie event, which usually is a slow time of year for his business. He attributes it to the publicity he receives for the event.

Dave, you are welcome to join us this Saturday. This event is open to all, even 40th Ward residents!
