Our block had two drive by shootings (thank goodness no one died) within 7 days of one another that the Alderman reported as gang related. No problems on the block that I'm aware in the previous 2 years we lived here. Anyone know what's changed lately in the area where we'd see this sudden increase in drive by shootings?

The three digit number 911 can make a big difference in these kinds of happenings. And you can do it and remain anonymous. No one will know where the call came from and from whom.

  • Like I stated previously regarding other shootings in our area,,,could be related to someone being released from prison and continuing gang feud. Probably living with family members because the gang pension plan doesn't pay out till your 65.

Speak to your Alderman about it, go to their headquarters and ask them what is going on, and what are they going to do about it, and/or go to your local police precinct (and CAAPS meeting) and ask them why the sudden surge on your block. Maybe it has become a new gang territory. Also ask - What care they going to do about it?

  • Michael McDonough Resident of BelCragin

First of all it shouldn't have been a territory for any gang period. As long as there is drug dealing going on theres going to be the gangs because the drug sales are part of what is keeping them going.

  • Neighborhood gang has been shooting at each other. An internal strife. Good thing is they know who each other are, so hopefully they eliminate each other. Bad thing is, bullets have no name and so if their aiming is off, anyone can get hit.

Thats just it,they don't aim they just drive by while pulling the trigger. They don't care.

Years ago it was a disputed area between the Imperial Gangsters on the north and west of it, and the Latin Kings on the east and south of it.

George, Rar, Ward, John S. - any thoughts on who's at war there now.

Given the up-tick in these kinds of shootings, especially in N.E. Logan Square and nearby Avondale, do you think this is a rolling activity? Are these pukes just chasing each other all over the community?

Is it possible that some gangboi got shot and now this escalation is relatiatory?

  • Michael McDonough Resident of BelCragin

It's all wrong .They should put away the guns and try to be productive in society. Oh wait! They gangboing as their way of being productive.

In that same area there was also The Gaylords and O A's

You are going way back Michael, with the Gaylord,LOL. I've been out of town for the past month, so I've been out of touch Gil. If I hear something next week, I'll put it out there.

Yes but they were all along Palmer street west of California and would occasionally be seen in the Armitage and Sawyer area

You're right. I remember them in that area. My first day in the old building at 2138 N. California st. I parked my personal car on the street along Palmer st. because the building had a small parking lot. I was approached by the Radatz brothers, who
claimed to be the leaders of the Palmer st. Gaylords. They insisted that I had to pay them for the privilege of parking on a public street. It did not end well for them. LOL!!!
