A man stepped in front of my car at Henderson & LeClaire, just as I started to pull out into the intersection. He pretended to be hit, and then did his best LeBron James flop onto the pavement. WAY overacting and obviously trying to scare me into thinking I'd done something wrong. I stopped my car and got out. He was a middle aged man, and was talking (or pretending to) on his phone in a slavic language. I asked him what he wanted to do, and he kept trying to pretend I hit him. After about 5 minutes, he said "you can go" and then finally said "give me $50 and I'll forget about it." I didn't give him anything and drove away. A**HOLE!!!!!! This happened about 5:50PM on Jan 10th. Don't fall for this scam.

  • I've read this scam is very common in Russia (I'm serious) and that's why many, many Russians have the dash-cams - to prove they were not at fault in this kind of accidents and others that are insurance scams.

    Russia? Scams? NO WAY!

  • Detest scams like these... Disgusting humans seem ever prone to become MORE disgusting.

This type can be especially dangerous for the innocent driver because it makes him/her prone to stop and get out of their car, leaving them open to any other mal abuse the scammer (or his/her buddies in wait nearby) might have in store.

If you are ever in this situation and KNOW you did not hit and injure a pedestrian --
Stay in your car, window cracked and doors locked. Take a photo of the person feigning injury, asking for money "to forget the incident"; tell them you have no cash on you but are calling the police. They'll probably vanish as quickly as they appeared in the first place.

I agree with NW-sider! Stay in your car, do exactly as he advises and call the police if you need. I'm just glad your are ok and nothing came of the situation. It could have been much worse, like leading to robbery or car jacking!

That was the worst acting job I have ever seen.
