Does anyone have any suggestion on making this stop safer? Generally in the morning its fairly quiet and I quickly go to the train platform, but in the afternoon/evenings when leaving work I do everything possible NOT to take the green line to 47th.

On Tuesday afternoon I stood on the train platform until I could physically SEE the east bound bus. I walked down and was immediately approached by 3 men begging, 1 selling drugs on a bike, then finally another man covered in a bloody t-shirt who wouldn't back away. The worst part is another woman who was waiting on the bus thanked me for not leaving her on the stop alone because she was terrified of being the only woman standing there.

It is absolutely ridculous that so much mayhem can congregate on that bus stop and there be no way to prevent it. The sad part is that most days there is an actual police presence on the north side of the street.

Its the same situation at the 43rd St Green Line station. I sometimes wonder if voting the ward dry would help. There's a great article about the 26th ward ( ) that was in the news a few months back. The flip side is the few good restaurants in the area would lose their liquor license.

You've got the right approach. I always check the bus timing on cta bus tracker and then wait until the bus gets thru the light before getting down off the platform. After a while the regulars there get to know you and stop soliciting money. As always, keep yours eyes open. It gets really messy down there. The police presence helps, but is impossible to catch full time. I'm thinking of just changing routes. Keep vigilant, and pray for peace in our neighborhood.
