It looks like tonight's going to be a rough night for bus riders. The CTA is rerouting all bus routes that take Lake Shore Drive to surface streets instead.

Here are a couple of the updates I've seen on Twitter:,0,2604876.story

If you guys have any updates or just want to compare notes as it gets close to quittin' time, feel free to add a comment.

I hope everyone has a safe ride home tonight.

Thanks Becca! I'm on the 135 now. I'll report back on how it goes.

Glad you got a head start before 5:00!

  • I am on the 134 and it is very very slow. Took almost half an hour to get from Adams to Wacker. On Michigan now and just sitting. Bus keeps spinning a out as well!

  • I can see LSD from my condo and at 5:20 p.m. it's moving as well as any other day and better than the main streets around here or the highways. I think they over reacted! Last year there was a prediction of an enormous snow vs. 4-8" prediction today.

I wonder if they scared a lot of people off the road?

  • LSD seems to be the only road that snowplows are moving freely. I passed a plow on Clark & Armitage walking home (2 hours ago) and made it almost to Diversey before it caught up! Saw on TV that all the expressways are hours (Edens inbound was 2 1/2 hours as of 1/2 hour ago or so).

  • Took an hour and a half to get from Adams and LaSalle to Sheridan and Belmont. Had no problems and the bus driver was fantastic!

Same experience here - 90 minutes from the loop to Belmont and Sheridan on the 135, but the bus driver and most of the riders were great so it wasn't as miserable as it could have been.
