Just heard about this Kickstarter and wanted to share the news:

I know a lot of us miss DNAinfo, so I was super excited to see some familiar faces and names. We all have a stake in hyperlocal news and information sharing, so this seems like it'll be a great community resource when it's launched in April :)

Bringing Neighborhood News Back by Block Club Chicago
Block Club Chicago is raising funds for Bringing Neighborhood News Back by Block Club Chicago on Kickstarter! Block Club Chicago is a nonprofit neighborhood news site started by former editors and reporters at DNAinfo Chicago. We're back!
  • Great news! Thanks for sharing.

I heard the founders and editors of this new site on WBEZ this morning. So glad to hear that this type of reporting will be coming back to Chicago.

  • According to Robert Feder, they've already exceeded their fundraising goal for this month with more than $86,000 in pledges.

  • As much as I don't miss getting hit over the head with gentrification stories every day, I do miss DNA info overall, so I donated. If you donate $50, it includes a year subscription and I feel local coverage is worth paying something for. Mina Bloom is going to be on staff, so we should get some good coverage.

  • I hope Mina uncovers a doping ring within the Cubs and they have to forfeit the season. Nothing against the cubs, but screw the Ricketts.
