Looks like it'll be in the old American Mattress place at The Morgan. Nice upgrade for the space, and will make for another good healthy food option before a quick Target run.

How do you know what's going into the space? I didn't find a business name at your link, Rob.

You can login if you have an account and see. Did you even look at the link?

  • There was also an article in Eater in May 2017 announcing Aloha Poke will open in Rogers Park at 6460 N. Sheridan Road near Loyola University.

My mistake Helen, I didn't realize it hid the info from you if you aren't logged in. Here is the description of the permit -

"Renovation/alteration permit at 6462 N Sheridan Rd in Chicago
Self-cert: interior build-out of new, ground floor aloha poke restaurant as per plans (775 sf)"

  • The American Mattress store was at 6448 N. Sheridan. I think 6462 N. Sheridan would be the small empty space that is open over there?

  • 6462 is the single storefront that is between Taco Bell and Pot Belly.

  • Yes, that is the space I am talking about. It's a pretty small space.

    Thanks Alea and Rob.

I suppose Aloha Poke will be popular with the Loyola students, but the concept doesn't appeal to me.

Helen - I've been to the Evanston location, and the bowls (if you are a sushi fan) are amazing! The fish was incredibly fresh-tasting and delicious

@robin in WRP - Agree with your assessment. I have been a big fan since I discovered them at the French Market in Olgivie Center. I especially like the ability to build your own bowl with goodies.

  • I didn't realize they had a location in Evanston. I'll check it out and of course visit our very own Rogers Park location once it opens! ☺️

  • Aloha Poke's continuing success in an increasing number of higher-profile neighborhoods (Hyde Park, River North, Lincoln Park, Evanston and others) demonstrates a broad appeal to cosmopolitan tastes and not just a younger, health-conscious or student crowd. Aloha Poke isn't, and never was, intended to attract the conservative diners at Bakers Square, Applebee or IHoP. Bring on the tobiko, ogo and arare. Come visit Rogers Park; the happening northside neighborhood where you can't be "too" diverse.

Hi Alea (It's Robin from AIK)! They are in the old Chandler's, where Jamba Juice was

  • Oh, hi Robin! Hope you're doing well! No way, I used to go to that Jamba Juice and wondered what establishment would take its place when it closed. Glad Aloha Poke found a home there!

Robin, I'm not a fan of raw fish.
