Hey all. I'm getting back into the music scene after a bit of a hiatus and would like to find some North Side musicians to jam with. I'm most interested in writing original music along the lines of prog rock bans like Porcupine Tree, Pink Floyd, Spock's Beard, etc.

I've been playing guitar for around thirteen years now and would consider myself an intermediate level guitarist.

Basically I'm looking for some no-drama, ego-free, late-20s/30-somethings to jam with who like the same musical style, and if it turns into a band, all the better. I have a good day job and am not interested in making this a career, so weekends and weeknights work best.

You can check out a recent song I wrote here (it's still a work in progress; some tracks need to be re-recorded):

Also, if anyone knows any websites where these kind of connections can be made outside of Everyblock, send 'em my way!

  • many musicians and vocalists of all levels connect with other musicians at the Old Town School. You might check it out. Class schedule includes ensemble classes. Current sessions starts this week. Stay happy in the music!

  • Thanks Cynthia. I considered that, too. Is there any way to network without necessarily taking classes? I can't really fit them in my budget at the moment.

  • Russ, maybe check out the Old Town workshops. As low as $5.

  • Sarah D. Dog lover, cyclist, swimmer, North Center '03-now!

Hey Russ, Old Town School has a bulletin board in the basement of the 4544 (West side) Lincoln building that is for precisely what you're looking for - post a flyer about what you are looking for and how to contact you, and maybe some like-minded folks will see it!
    Good luck to you.
