I would like to share with the community some good theater in the neighborhood. This afternoon, I caught a producion of a later play of the dramatist Arthur Miller "The Price", just opened at Raven Theater on Clark St., a few blocks south of Devon Av. I think it's a brilliant production. For community residents who enjoy live theater, I recommend this show heartily. The acting is first-rate, and the stage set is a wonder of prop collection and set design technology. I feel very blessed to live so close to such high quality community theater.

I echo all of Marianne's recommendations on the production!

Haven't seen "The Price" yet but I plan to using my flexpass. We are indeed fortunate in RP to have the Raven closeby plus the exceptional Lifeline Theater & Theo Ubique. Lucky!

I do indeed feel fortunate. There is also "City Lit Theater" in a church on Bryn Mawr and Winthrop. I saw something there last Sunday: "We Have Always Lived in a Castle", adapted from the eerie Shirley Jackson novel. A friend of mine who lives in the outlying suburbs came up to see it w/ me. She's a big Shirley Jackson fan. She was totally blown away by how good it was. It really was too. $25 a ticket. She was telling me she thinks I'm so lucky to have such quality theater close to me and at such affordable cost.

I saw "Death of a Salesman" at Raven, and it was a great production. Really fine.
Raven's been around for years, they obviously know what they're doing over there! Nothing 'amateur' at all about their productions.
I should also mention that the theater facility itself is very comfortable with good seating and, in the summer, air conditioning; I would encourage anyone to go.

Yeah it is a nice facility. Very comfortable, good seating, intimate theater. Nice selection of hot and cold drinks, but snacks are overpriced. Staff is courteous and helpful. High production values.

They also did an excellent job on "Twelve Angry Men" a couple of years ago - gripping all the way to the last word. Their focus on classic American playwrites is noteworthy. Good place.
